The reception staff were very good and friendly, the room was very comfortable. The house keeping in our superior room was very poor. The bed was never made properly, the sink.in the bathroom wasn't cleaned ,only ever had half of the refreshments.
The towel rail in the bathroom was broken. There wasn't a hair dryer there when we arrived.

When you walk into the hotel you 8magine it’s going to be a lovely stay. Unfortunately that is not the case. The hotel needs a thorough overhaul. We found the decor needed refurbishing. The lifts were antiquated. The staff
are very friendly, nothing is too much for them. Breakfast was a big disappointment. No fried eggs and the scrambled, because left under a light it was like rubber. I believe the orange juice was concentrated. If you did not have dinner on your stay you could use the restaurant. For a 3 course it was £22.00 which I found a bit steep for the choices. Typical choices: 2 quarter size breadcrumbed Camberbet with cranberry jam. (Teaspoon size) fish and chips(not sure what fish) chips tasted baked. Cherry pie. The pastry was awful and skimped on custard. Rooms are big but need decorating and so do the bathrooms. Beds are hard. No air conditioning just a fan. They do have entertainment and it sounded good. A lot of tribute bands. Don’t think will be going back. This hotel is no relation to the Burlington in Worthing.

Large Victorian hotel, I booked a superior room and the furniture and bathroom fitting were smart and fairly new.
There is a problem with maintaining such a large old hotel and bathroom was full of cobwebs, bedroom walls were scuffed and window frames were in poor condition.

The buffet breakfast is good quality and staff are friendly. It is a short walk to all facilities and attractions.

Great location, staff very welcoming and cheerful Room was a bit tired. A bit dusty. Carpet edges needed hoovering. Bed was sunken on one side which was mentioned on check out so should be rectified. Overall though good value for money

Quaint seafront stay ruined by poor communication The location was on the seafront; the room was exactly as described "cosy double"; there were 2 armchairs; the windows could be fully opened; and there were 2 additional pillows in the closet. The bathroom was too snug for a plus sized guest; the curtains were smaller than the windows; when we called reception [from the room] there was no answer; we had to fetch a do-not-disturb sign from reception; the fire alarm went off around 8am - reception said "someone sprayed something" - the fire alarm may be too sensitive; Housekeeping knocked and let themselves in at 11am, although we had late check-out until 1pm; Housekeeping again knocked at 12pm. We booked this hotel 12-months in advance, and immediately requested (1) late check out and (2) blue badge parking. We were given very detailed directions to the hotel car park, but not told there was a £6 daily charge. We found out when we asked reception if we needed to register the car plate.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Eastbourne Station through the town and left at the end onto Grand Parade. As such it has a prime location near the beach and pier plus it is close to the shops. Externally the hotel is a little disappointing and like other hotels in Eastbourne it has obviously seen better days. The two lifts are quite small for such a large hotel. I had asked for a room away from lifts/stairs and found my room right at the end of the corridor overlooking Terminus Road where roadworks are ongoing. These started before 0730 and it would have been annoying if my stay had been longer. Clearly this is not the fault of the hotel and few people want to visit Eastbourne and stay in their room. The room itself had functional furniture and fittings but no USB port. The en suite had a good shower fitted over the bath. The windows were old style sash type and needed a clean. There is a large dining room for breakfast which overlooks the pier. Various hot and cold items were available but no poached eggs cooked to order - only scrambled eggs. There is a bar at the hotel and entertainment some evenings. The staff I met were pleasant and tried to be helpful.

Very convenient location and very polite employees The hotel is in a perfect location. It’s very convenient to the High Street. It is also very close to the pier and all the amenities in the area. I love staying there. This is my third visit will return again. You need more double beds and when it’s hot, you need lighter duvets or just sheets on beds Your bar area is fantastic. All your employees are very clean and polite.

If you want jaded elegance and you’re not fussy, stay here; this hotel needs a lot of TLC but the staff were very helpfu Sea view It was very tired and generally quite unkempt. Our room was sea view but the windows were filthy and lots of cobwebs outside. The room itself was on a slope so when in bed we felt like our feet were up higher than our heads. The level of cleanliness was very poor. There was a pair of someone else’s underwear left in the room when we arrived! We had to ask for it to be removed. There was also a bottle of cleaning fluid/bleach left by the cleaner.

Great views from sea rooms. I’ve stayed here quite a few times and I’ve tried various rooms. The sea view is definitely worth the extra cost.
The staff are amazing, extra kudos for the young gentleman at breakfast.
Nothing really.
