This was my first stay in a hotel from the 17 to 20 of May and so this is my view that my third floor single room was clean tidy and roomy had a small TV, it was cleaned every morning by polite cleaning staff, a good choice of food at breakfast and evening meals and was served by polite helpful staff, my first stay at a hotel was a good one.

The Burlington is a large old seaside hotel owned by Shearings Holidays. We arrived for our 3 day weekend break and were disappointed with the outdated appearance of the interior of the hotel, could do with some decorating and some of the areas were not very clean, especially the public toilet(ladies) in the entertainment area. However our room was ok at the front with a seaview(bonus) and towels and bedding clean bathroom also dated but clean. Food good, plain British fare but well prepared and served hot. The service in the dining room was excellent. The service at the hotel was very good in all parts of the hotel being a plus point for this hotel. Location excellent on seafront and near shopping centre, bus stop just opposite for local areas(Brighton,Hastings etc) Although this hotel could do with some updating and TLC it is however very good value for money. We are a couple in our 60's as were most other guests

The hotel is owned and run by Shearings Holidays and is a very large old hotel. Our party had been booked for some time, and the majority of us were staying in single rooms. Check in was straightforward although there was a bit of a problem in establishing that my car parking had been authorised and paid for. The room was at the back of the hotel and maybe because we were not part of a coach tour package, but to put it mildly the room had seen far better days. The carpet is of the "Wallace Arnold" era with the "WA" motif repeated in a staggered pattern, that is where it has not worn threadbare. The sash windows are showing signs of advanced wood rot, the bathroom being the worse of the two. Wallpaper is peeling from the ceiling and lifting at the edges on the walls. The drawer under the old TV will not close once opened owing to the wood bowing under the weight of the TV. The bathroom fittings are of the 1970's and are showing their age with the chrome plate wearing through on the taps. The washbasin had a number if cracks in it from previous accidents.
For guests of a younger age group, be warned the target market for the hotel appears to be the over 60's (I know I'm one of them), but if you still move quick, be prepared to slow down as there are people 70 and 80+ who don't enjoy freedom of movement like they used to. Consequent to this the "entertainment" is suited to the older end and would bore younger people out of their minds.
On the positive side, the food is excellent and there is a good choice of menu which is changed each day for the evening meal. The staff are also excellent, friendly and very efficient and pleasant. The location is ideal too, being almost opposite the pier and not too far from some very good shops, Eastbourne has very few shops which are empty and is a pleasant change from most other "High Streets".
One final note is that my room was not the exception, at least two of my party also commented on the state of their rooms, and whilst ackowledging thatthe price was very good there re standards which I expect, and sadly these fell well below expectations.

Excellent location, friendly staff and very good services. I went through shearing holiday package and most were old people. The hotel boy Daniel was very gentle, friendly, smart and made me comfortable among old group in the restaurant. You must see their service. All Guys really working hard and almost running all the time for giving quick service.

16 of us just had a short 3 night break at this hotel
As other people have said this is an old hotel & in some aspects a bit tired, but you will not beat it for value. The staff are excellent & very friendly, always trying to help.
The evening entertainment is not London stage, but better than some Shearing hotels.
The hotel situation could not be bettered, almost opposite the pier.
The seafront rooms are worth it if you are going to spend time in your room other than asleep.
One of the lifts (elevators) is rather small but better than nothing

Visited this hotel as part of a coach party. Greeting by hotel staff excellent and baggage handled efficiently. Room reasonable although dated and with poor television. Everything working and hot water always available ( not always the case in hotels costing much much more). Room serviced daily and kept clean for the duration of the stay. All public areas of the Hotel are comfortable and pleasant with super views of the pier and small gardens. The position of the Hotel is truly perfect within very easy reach of town centre shops, theatres and local services. Over all a very enjoyable 4 day stay amongst pleasant staff and very affordable.

This was our third visit to the Burlington in the last two years. No people who review on Trip Advisor only give negative reviews !!!

This is an old hotel used throughout the year by Shearings. We were self drive. We arrived Friday afternoon for a 2 night break. My wifw and I in one room and my mother in a single room.

Check in was very smooth and with no problems. We were allocated rooms on the 2nd floor ( 238 double and 242 single) I wanted a room close to my mother who is 86 years old.

The rooms were clean and had everything you would nbeed for a short break. Our room 238 was refurbished and was really nice, the bathroom was excellent.

Restaurant and bars were good , staff were polite and friendly. Meals were good and service excellent.

Entertainment was ok but a specialo mention for Mark Snow. He is excellent. Hope he loses the remaining few stone. Well done Mark you were a star.

Overall another good holiday.

We had a family break at this hotel recently and had a great time. The staff and service were brilliant, food was good and a good choice and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. We had a sea view room which needed updating but it was very comfortable and we had all we needed. We were able to park right outside or in the car park, loved Eastbourne and the hotel was right on the front near the pier and shops. A great weekend, EXCELLANT value for money and we would definitely go again. Do not know what ric S was talking about! I think he stayed at a different hotel!!

My friend and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend break and cannot praise the hotel enough, We are 2 ladies in our 40's and although the majority of the guests were booked through Shearings and somewhat older the entertainment put on by Mark Snow was excellent and we actually stayed in and joined in the quizzes. He was very entertaining and kept everyone amused. The Bar Manager was so helpful and told us all the best eating places in Eastbourne and even marked them on a map for us. The hotel was clean and our room was very comfortable. The only downside was the weather but it is England!!! Well recommended and looking forward to another weekend break there.

Just back from another value for money trip with Shearings and can,t really fault it!
Lovely hotel on sea front, very comfortable and friendly. Ongoing refurbishment but did not hinder our holiday. Our room was basic and at the back but for the time spent there completely adequate and clean with lots of room and hot water. It's such a big hotel but we felt food was wonderful and compliments to the chef.entertainment was good but plenty of other places bars and restaurants if you wished to venture out.
Brilliantly located for anyone who likes to walk the prom, nice and flat with lots of rest places. Trips were good and nice driver who stopped off in Banbury instead of service station on way back, which was pleasant. Well done Shearings for another good destination.

We went to this hotel for the first time just for a short break. We were glad of pre-bookable car parking which we found very handy. This is a very large hotel right on the seafront. We had a room overlooking the sea which was nice unfortunately only one window stayed open as the sash cord was broken. We overcame this by wedging it open by use of the Bible (praise the Lord). Our room was large, clean and comfortable let down by the creaking floorboards and a very tired bathroom with a cracked hand basin and a non working shower and grotty flooring, a shame really as other areas of the hotel have been upgraded. All the staff were nice and friendly and the food was good. The weather was beautiful whilst we were there which always makes things lovely.

It is the second time we have been to the Burlington Hotel Eastbourne we liked it then as well.Arriving on Friday about 6-15 pm we were two hours late because of an accident on the M25 The transfer from coach to room was seamless. Meal time was half way through so dump cases then straight down in to the lounge. Our first meal i selected was chicken which was hot and presented very well. The sweet was a choice of three like the first course and was also well presented. The evening entertainment was bingo followed by a comedian who was average The bar prices was expensive but the bar was easily accessible. The bedroom was quite large with central heating, bathroom was large with bath plus shower Hot water was always available. We were well pleased with both rooms. The central heating was on day/night after leaving home after our bad winter & spring Waking up with every morning feeling warm was very satisfying and went a long way making this break all we wanted. The staff, reception, bar & waiters were all well trained, and polite. That is why we will go back fairly soon.

We spent a long weekend in April at this hotel, having stayed there before we knew the location was great - right opposite the pier and short walk into town, and were familiar with the standard of the rooms and food etc.

We paid the extra for a sea view room - well worth the money as these rooms are also mostly bigger than the standard rooms. Our bedroom was clean, well furnished and spacious with a good layout and a small table and chairs as well as large dressing table and mirror. The bathroom however was tiny, although it did have a bath, washbasin and toilet it was in a poor state, needing modernisation as the plastic washbasin and bath were worn and the floor was very bad (lino with large bubbles and creases). Other residents we spoke to were less impressed with their rooms and some had upgraded or asked to be moved so maybe we have been lucky on our visits. WARNING - parking is now charged at £5.00 per day, and as onstreeet parking is limited in the area this is almost a necessity but worth it to be sure of a secure space during your stay).

The food was very good, choice of three starters, four mains and at least three desserts every day and the standard was very good. It was served quickly and reasonable portions although the vegetables were rather tasteless. They are happy to accomodate special requests so will vary the meals slightly if requested (i.e. salad instead of vegs). Breakfast menu is the same every day but again they will vary on request. Mealtime are very rigid but this is to cater to the many coach parties using the hotel who go out on day trips each day about 10.00 and return about 4.00.

Entertainment has improved since our last visit but is still not up to the standard we have seen at other hotels of the same rating. Bingo every night but this only takes about 20-30 minutes, some nights a quick quiz with small prizes and then the 'cabaret' which varies in theme but little in content !

The pier is right opposite and there is a good bar and cafe on there and a short walk around the corner leads to a street containing many, varied bars, cafes and restaurants as well as a very big shopping centre which includes all the big name stores as well as some interesting smaller independent shops.

All in all a very good value short break destination which is a good base for attractions across a wide area and we will probably return a some point in time.

We stayed at Bay Burlington hotel for 5 days on the 25th of March, had an open mind about staying but have to say was pleasantly surprised. Yes there are parts of the hotel that need a little maintenance but didn't bother us.. We didn't have a sea view room but to be honest that didn't bother us too much. Room was clean and very spacious and a comforable bed with a nice large bathroom what more can you ask.

We had bed breakfast and evening meal and the food and service could not be faulted plus the added bonus of 4 drinks vouchers per person per night.

The only downside we found was the staff on the evening in the small bar area (private area) was quite rude

We used Shearings as our agent and they were marvellous coach driver Kevin was very imformative and certainly made the long journey down very pleasant..

All in all we enjoyed our stay which was nice and relaxing but we were the youngest in the hotel but 25+ years so the evening entertainment was catered for the older generation..

Would like to see the hotel cater more for 40+ couples including the entertainment..

The burlington hotel is in a great position, near to all amenities. We stayed over the Easter weekend and had an enjoyable time. The food was excellent, with a good choice and considering the amount of people in attendance, thought the chef did a great job. Service in the resteraunt was a bit slow but as I said, there were a lot of people to cater for. Staff were friendly and helpful. We paid extra to park our car in the hotel car park and think it was worth it.
OK so the place needs a make over but overall it is not that bad. Some of the public areas were a bit on the chilly side but it didn't worry us that much. Our room and bathroom were lovely and warm, which matters most. The one criticism, is that there is very little seating around the dance floor, and if you don't want to gulp your dinner to get a seat, then you spend the rest of the evening listening to whatever is on through loud speakers. Personally, for a conjurer and a saxophonist, it isn't worth it. still for all that, I would give it another go sometime.

Stayed over Easter at this hotel. Rooms very tired and need a refurb! A massive shame as the food
Is excellent the staff friendly and the drinks good value. Our first room we rejected as it was very dark and dingy and we ended up paying for a sea view room. It was a little better but the shower didn't work very well. The entertainment was average as at least 60% of the audience could not see the act due to the layout of the room. So if you do not mind a well below average room with good food then this is for you. No sky sports even in the main hotel which forced me to go elsewhere to watch football.

Stayed at the Burlington 18th to 22nd March. We were a party of 16 from St Helens. Had a great time, the hotel was very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Special mention for our waiter Carlos, he was so nice. Also a mention for our driver, Tony, he made our holiday a good one.

Stayed for 4 nights Self Drive ,return visit. Very Very cold spell March, Really have to improve front doors sea facing, to cut draught very cold in lounge area on show nights people sitting in outdoor coats, main reason for cold is DOORS near Bar area into kitchen don`t shut so wind tunnel to back doors to Car Park.Entertainment o/k Paul was good Mark also,no complaints.
Food excellent choice Service excellent Gosia was v.good. Bar staf brilliant.
Reception very untidy, Room 313 was tired and windows do not fit so cold. Bathroom very sad,
Ordered Celebration Pack not worth money £29 for £10 worth of poor fruit cheap wine and Roses,Still like the hotel in general, keep up standards as it is a great place,.

Stayed for a 4 night break at end of March. Although the weather was extremely chilly the hotel was warm at all times, not easy when the hotel is right on sea front. The Burlington is ideally situated for easy access to the sea front, buses, and the shopping centre is only a five minute walk away. We stayed in a standard room which was clean, tidy and quite roomy. The en-suite was dated and a little shabby but there was constant hot water and the shower was good. The restaurant served a good choice of food and all the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.
The entertainment was very good on every night but a special mention should be made of Ray Campbell who did an almost 2 hour spot - excellent. Shearings offer a good value for money holiday and we will certainly go again.

We have just come back from 3 nights at the Burlington in Eastbourne & have to say that for the money we paid,it was good value. The hotel is right on the front, almost across the road from the pier & 15 minute walk from the station. We stayed in a standard room which although in need of updating, was ok for us. Plenty of cupboard space & the bathroom was adaquate, There is never enough light in these rooms & the windows are showing signs of mould & need replacing with double glased units. The public rooms were cold most of the time, esp. the bar looking over the front, guests had to keep coats on in there, this needs to be addressed. Meals them selves were good & always hot with a decent choice & you can upgrade if you fancy something different.
Entertainment was on every night & geared to older guests & was actually very good, Mark the compare was on top form. All the staff were plesant & helpfull which made the holiday.
Sherings do good offers like this & we will definatly go with them again, only when the weather gets better!!

We have just got back from a Mon - Fri break with Shearings. Unfortunatly we got caught up in the snow on the way down. We had left the last service place at 3pm then every thing went wrong the snow was freezing as it came down and it was chaotic with traffic stood still every where. Tony the driver was great and got us their safely. The staff at the Burlington were fantastic to us as we arrived at 1-30 am tired and hungry. They had laid on a lovely buffet for us and they were all so friendly and welcoming even thought they must have been tired themselves. We had a lovely clean room with a sea view. The bed was really comfortable. Only thing was the creaky floor boards but as it is an old building, to be expected. Meals are very good especially the breakfasts, as we missed Mon entertainment can only comment on the 3 nights we saw. Tues was a comedian he was ok, Wed a girl singer who sang show tunes we enjoyed but did hear a few people say they hadnt liked her, then Thurs which was brilliant he was a comedian who hardly drew breath plus he played the keyboard which enabled the dancers to get up. Must also mention Mark the entertainment guy who kept the evenings flowing. Quite enjoy a game of Bingo ( didnt win) Great Hotel, loved our stay, Thank You all

Booked independently through late rooms.com for two night break with bed and breakfast.
The hotel is a little tired in places, but the hotel is exceptionally clean.
Our stay at this hotel was very nice!
The room we stayed in was very basic standard room, very clean, but in some need of re-decoration, and the windows desperately need maintaining,
The bed was fine and had a large bathroom and there was always plenty of hot water.
The room came with tea and coffee making items and the towels were changed every day.
There was a small television in the room and unfortunately the hotel does not have Wi Fi at the present time.
But overall it was a very pleasant stay very quiet in the room, no disturbance and we were on 4rd floor.
All the staff are all clearly hard working.
But I must point out “Ewa” our waitress, who served us our breakfasts on both days.
She always met us with a smile, and nothing was too much trouble for her,
It was clear she was a very hard worker and who took pride and fully enjoyed her job.
She is credit to the Hotel profession.

The food at breakfast was very good, a good variety of cereals and porridge followed by a full English.
There is parking at £5 per day, but there is plenty of on street parking.
Location almost opposite the pier on the front, fantastic views and plenty of shops just round the corner,

Just one minor complaint: Please can you remove the carpet tiles from the lifts and replace them with mirrors or something brighter, as it seems very claustrophobic and dark with them stuck to the walls

A very delightful place, thanks everyone, we enjoyed our stay and will return.
