Cheaper alternative to other Eastbourne hotels but you get what you pay for
The Location is good
In general the hotel is tired and needs attention, for example the large lift did not work for the 3 nights we were there however we were told it would be working within 24hr of arrival. The rooms were large enough but tired with amrks on the walls and carpets, the bathrooms were old and small with not great water pressure or hot water. We requested rooms together but they were only on the same floor but a real distance from eachother. Our room door of 241 closed and locked in the middle but was so wharped at the bottom it looked like it was open?!?! The Car park was scary too, we were worried to leave our car there and you have to ignore the no access signs to enter it?

whilst the initial room was not satisfactory, the quick change and the manner of the staff helped.
upon entering the room that was booked for us, it was not very clean as the floor was dirty. However, once we mentioned our feelings to the reception; they did not hesitate in finding an alternative room which was much better and it was larger and more comfortable.
We were told the wrong times for breakfast and missed out on a breakfast meal; the building is quite dated and I believe this causes difficulites for the staff, whom I believe try their very best to clean and provide for their customers

The breakfast was better than many hotels I’ve stayed in. The front of house staff are second to none.

It's a great cheap hotel you get what you pay for bar and food is good plus a bonus you can park your car at the rear and it's location is perfect for a stroll into the town or the pier a 2 minute walk this is the reason why we go there at least 6-8 times a year

Only one lift working and it broke down we had to walk up to the 4th floor not good for two people in their late 70's, food was good ,staff pleasant, could be good if they ever get both lifts working ,could do with a good refurbishment, but we enjoyed Eastbourne, so many places to choose to eat in

Location ideal. Right opposte the Pier. Hotel was a bit tired. Biggest complaint ,from everyone, is lift only accommodates 2 people. One decent size suitcase and an adult only has enough space. Food typical of this type of hotel. Buffet morning with waiter at evening. Pick your evening meal from menu at breakfast. We were given an upgrade for our first 3 of 4 nights. Then we had to move for our last one. 2nd room was so small. Bathroom ok but again no space. Weirdly only one twin socket. Kettle and fan in it so nowhere else to charge fones. Kept plugging and unplugging. We had a drinks package which was very good. Bar staff nice and friendly.
Staff in dining room,especially Wayne and Ann, were very nice too. Helpful.
Would we come again. Doubt it. Climbing stairs to our rooms because of lift is off putting.

Remember ‘Open all hours’ with Ronnie Barker and the till that used to snap shut on his hand? Well, when you use the tiny lift in this place it’ll take you back to Arkwights till. It snaps shut if you’re not super fast at getting in or out of it. Tries to cut you in half it does 😏 There’s a bigger lift but that’s out of order, I suspect it has been for a while. We’ve been here five days now and housekeeping have been once, no towel change. To be fair the food isn’t bad. The wine is drinkable. The only lager is Carlsberg (I’d rather drink water tbh). Hotel is in a nice spot, just round the corner from a few nice restaurants.

On the whole our stay was quite relaxing and rewarding.
Breakfast was very good and, well furnished and the view at the seafront quite stunning. Room very spacious and airy and accommodating.
The lift service was not accommodating for the number of customers at the hotel over that weekend. We hope efforts would be made to get the bigger lift in working order.

The location of the hotel was perfect for both access to the pier opposite and easy access to town. Nice bar area with a view of the front to enjoy a drink in the evening. Staff were very welcoming and friendly - were very helpful when needing different things during our stay.
The heat in the room felt very uncomfortable for the majority of the time, the fan provided was definitely needed, however this struggled to provide much relief from the heat. I wonder if due to the size of the rooms and the increasing heatwaves in the UK it would benefit from larger fans being available as it was very uncomfortable to sleep in the heat.
The bath taps were very noisy when running, and there was no plug in the sink, but to balance it out, otherwise the bathroom was lovely and clean and a lovely bright space.

The location is excellent, straight across the road from the beach and pier, the shops are just around the corner.
They have two lifts, but only one was working, and that one broke down one night, which meant all the guests had to walk up the stairs. Luckily, we were on the first floor.
Also, the lifts are very small ,not really ideal for people on wheelchairs.

The lift is very tiny but luckily we were on 2nd floor and didn’t really affect our stay.
