Comfortable stay, helpful staff. Close to town, staff were helpful. Hotel was ok, but needs a refurbishment.

Lovely hotel unfortunately a bit outdated now needs a lot of decorating and windows in our room were really dirty inside and out.
Apart from that everything was good.

Excellent 4 night stay Room sizw was more than adequate for the 2 of us although bathroom was quite narrow but with a superb walk in shower(which i asked for).Breakfast very good, well cooked and plenty of it,only thing would maybe be an automatic drinks machine.View wasnt good as we were at the back but no complaint at all.Location is superb on the seafront with buses around 100 yards away to Hastings--Train station 10-15 mins Some statins on the carpet which we mentioned to the from desk on leaving--we didnt cause them, otherwise nothing.

Lovely hotel great staff Nice hotel staff friendly especially the bar staff and dining room.
Views from bedroom window to sea brilliant
Very pleasant hotel great location.
Never had the room cleaned once in 4 days.
Did not know that you had to place the sign outside door to ask for room to be cleaned.
One day l did leave the sign outside came back at 5pm and still not cleaned very dissatisfied.
The cleaner came me milk and toilet roll but did not clean .

Lovely staff and a great location! The staff were lovely and the bar was really nice. The room was very basic and a bit tired (it was basic room however). I’m sure there are more deluxe rooms. The evening meal was quite bland but good for the price. The room was quite dated and there was a strong smell of must throughout the hotel.

Great location. You get what you pay for. The property does require some TLC and there are plans to renovate over the next three years.
However, we had a comfortable Seaview room. We enjoyed the Breakfasts and Dinners. The staff were all friendly.

We arrived easily by train to Eastbourne and loved the open top bus to Birling Gap and the 99 bus to Pevensey Castle.

Eastbourne promenade, Pier, Bandstand, restaurants and shops are all within walking distance.
Like many seaside hotels we have stayed in, this hotel requires decorating, deep cleaning and A/C. However, this will push up the price and Eastbourne has many hotels in competition.

Although the hotel needs some tlc, it was very comfortable and accommodating. Friendly staff always ready to help you. Even better that's it's right by the pier. not a thing

Absolutely falling apart.. please please please clean those carpets, paint the inside and outside, get rid of the hideous smell haunting the bedrooms and get the lids on the bins outside... rubbish everywhere and it will be amazing.. In desperate need of some TLC. Nice big rooms with comfy beds, excellent location The room was very dirty, hadn’t been hoovers, smelt like sewage, dried sick in the bin, so much dust everywhere and the view from our room was a street full of rubbish spilled into the road. Could do with some work to update the hotel.

Great location with excellent sea views. Nice to stay in a historic hotel. But deep cleaning needed. Staff, especially Abby on reception were great. The sea view, the location. Cleanliness in the bedrooms especially bathrooms. Skirting boards covered in tea stains. Windows hard to open, unless you stood on a chair. Ants crawling on window ledge and entering bedroom. Shower base filling up and draining water away. Key stuck in lock and hard to get out. Toilet moved off the floor from side to side. Door lock bracket so loose nearly coming off. No entertainment apart from one night, a singer. No tv on in the bar or lounge all day and night. As staff couldn’t find the remotes. Most hotels, I have been to, have the news on continuously as a background to look at. Couldn’t get any water for my daughter as bar not open until 12. Ridiculous. Hotel lifts very small. Restaurant staff on evening meal, didn’t appear to know what they were doing. One waitress tried to sit us at a table for two and there was three of us. A family behind us got given their deserts after their starter instead of their main course. Seemed a bit Fawlty towers in places.

Location, bar. Breakfast. Our room wasn't cleaned, at all during our stay.
We went out for the day on our 2nd day and got back at 10 at night
The cleaner had not been in , no toilet rolls, no clean towels.
Had to ring down to reception.
Don't expect this in a hotel that costs over £100 a night .

Classic old English Hotel. A real pleasure to be there

Though the room was clean and the bed was comfortable enough to sleep in. The front outside of the hotel and the inside of the hotel did not look the same as the pictures. Which I've also noticed someone said the same below. We had a double or superior sea view room. The decor and furniture look so outdated, even by the reception area. The walls and its paint look old and dry. The lift is so scary and old. Even the use of fans and plug heaters is so outdated although not the worst. The bathroom floor looks like council flat floors. The whole hotel looks in need need of TLC. Its just not what I was expecting from what I saw in the pics. I can tell many of the area hotels have an outdated look. However, You can have still have a hotel with a traditional look with updates hotel facilities and better condition walls. On the other hand staff were friendly. And the location was great, close to everything, which made up for where the hotel was lacking.

The property is so run down which is a shame as it’s a lovely building.
The carpets are stained and dirty and the place just looks dirty.
Maybe the cleaners don’t have enough time to do each room.
The staff where friendly
