This is the second time I have been here and again it is a good standard hotel with good food and very helpful staff, and there is entertainment on every night The room was large and comfy. The only criticism I have is there are small parts that could do with up dating a bit.

I had a very nice, clean newly decorated room, a lovely bathroom the only complaint the towel radiator did not work. a kettle ample coffee tea sugar and milk. everything was spotless clean. The bed had a good mattress and the radiator warmed the room nicely.
I had 4 nights stay, 4 self service breakfasts a very good selection of cooked foods, 4 different cereals, grapefruit, prunes, raisins. orange juice, cranberry juice, marmalade, jams, squeeze honey as much coffee or tea as one wants. an excellent supper 3 courses plus coffee and a roll, a good selection of food a lot of vegetables with your meal 2 vegetables and 2 different potatoes. On Wednesdays 4 free drinks of your choice, a quiz nightly as well as bingo, entertainers and dancing. The staff are helpful and I can only highly recommend it, not too much I hope as I want to go again this year plus a couple of times every year and I want to be able to book. It is within .200 yards from the Pier and overlooking the sea, serves very reasonable lunches and has a Lady selling Jewellery one day a week. Her prices are very reasonable and she makes quite a lot herself. You can book it self drive or go there by coach and it has some excursions if you use the latter. There is a bus service to Brighton across the road.2 department stores within 5 minutes walk

Hotel was lovely and the staff were very helpful. Nothing was too much for them and they answered your queries immediately and bent over backwards to make sure your break was enjoyable. The entertainment was the best I have ever been to in the UK and the guest appearances were magnificent. Debbie Lee Johns was brilliant and deserves a medal for her performance and wit. Will definitely go there again.

Just returned from a weekend break here and it was excellent we had a nice room on the 3rd floor right by the lifts and we can honestly say we did not hear the lifts, very comfortable for a good nights sleep, the food here is very good something for even the fussiest of eaters a good selection for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is right in front of the Victorian Pier which while we were there, a cold easterly wind was blowing but still able to walk on it a lovely view along Eastbourne seafront.
We went to Hastings where we had a look around some museums and had lunch in a lovely old pub we also went to Alfriston where the National Trust has its very first property then on to Battle and Beachy Head all very interesting
The entertainment here is excellent on Friday evening Andrew Fleming entertained us he is a comedy impressionist very funny, Mark Snow (hence the title of our review) is a very good all round entertainer, calling the Bingo, he has his own way doing this, then going on to do the Quiz to a D J at the end of the evening, He has one evening all on his own Sunday when he calls Bingo, then the Quiz, and Comedy and Singing to DJ all in all a very good evenings entertainment, very well done Mark
On Saturday evening we had in our opinion the rudest entertainer we have ever seen he arrived with his equipment and dumped it on the dance floor and set up, this we might add took up best part of a quarter of the floor and then started to sing, but he made NO ATTEMPT to engage with the whole hall he just faced one way the whole time and from where we were sitting all we saw was HIS BALD HEAD never once his face, we feel he should be spoken to about his attitude towards his audience, we have never experienced anything like this before (see photos)
Overall the weekend was very good thanks to everyone at the hotel / coach drivers and a special thanks to Mark
Looking forward to our next visit to the Burlington

A group of us go to The Burlington every year in February and have done for 5 years now and have enjoyed it every time.
Accommodation... upgraded to a sea view, which was nice. Unfortunately the large sash windows were draughty and the radiator struggled to warm the room however we stopped the draughts with paper and the room warmed up. The room which was on the fourth floor was clean and tidy and a good size with sufficient wardrobe and drawer space for a weekend away. The bed was firm but comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and looked to have been fairly recently refurbished.
Restaurant...Breakfast is now buffet style, waiting staff efficient, attentive, polite and friendly. We found the food in general to be perfectly acceptable.
Entertainment....Friday night we had comedian/impressionist whom we have seen before but still found hilarious (His Mick Jagger and Ozzy Osbourne you won't stop laughing!) Saturday night a very good vocalist. Sunday night and also keeping the weekend entertainment together was Mark Snow who keeps everyone entertained.
None of the party of 10 I was with had any complaints and again enjoyed their weekend at The Burlington.
Other good points regarding the hotels location....it is opposite the pier about 5 mins walk into town, also bus stops in both directions (Brighton about one and a quarter hours and Hastings about an hour in the other direction) are minutes walk from the hotel....remember your bus pass!

Stayed here recently on another trip for work....I am a coach driver and was booked by a private party to bring them to this hotel for the weekend.... The customer had paid for my accommodation and food for the weekend and to be honest even though he had only booked standard accommodation I found it to be more than adequate for the time we were staying for and the food was excellent..

just visited Eastbourne for the first time ever and what a joy.this place has it all..miles of beaches and landscaped promenades;a childrens pirate themed play park;a land based harbour;a bandstand;a Napoleonic fort and just a bit further along the coast is a full sized lighthouse!! a classic seaside resort. I nearly forgot the Victorian pier which the hotel overlooks!

Just returned from 4 night break at this hotel and loved it... ALL the staff were lovely, friendly and attentive, the food was what you would expect for what we paid but was well cooked and very well presented breakfast was fantastic with loads to choose from, our room overlooked or rather was behind the fire escape but it was cosy and warm with comfy beds if i went in the summer i would pay for a sea view but it isnt so important in the winter you cant expect a hotel to not use half its rooms because there isnt a pleasent view from the windows...and the entertainment was first class ...Mark Snow excellent..Well done Burlington thank you for a lovely break we will most certainly visit you again .

I should probably give this 4 stars for the price as if you travel out of season with Shearings it's brilliant value for money. But it's definitely a 3 star hotel. Personally I would pay extra for a sea view room - mine looked straight out to sea. Very clean room with a new modern bathroom. Comfy bed. Only slight gripe is the food is generally a little bit bland and the veg are overcooked but for the price we shouldn't complain. The dinner portions were large and the staff very helpful.
There is no atmosphere at all in the restaurant and all it would take would be some inexpensive idea tea lights on each table and maybe some music! It's a bit like a canteen and the food is ok but very workaday 'meat and 3 veg' kind of thing.
Entertainment totally geared to senior citizens with bingo and old style dancing but it seems popular. If you're younger you'd probably head to the pub or cinema instead anyway. This sounds a bit critical but the staff are great and they work very hard, and the rooms are clean. For the price what more can you want. I would go back but beware the are no little sachets of shampoo in the bathrooms so take your own shampoo and soap or bubble bath.

Stopped overnight after reading the hotel description parking was find but was unaware that before six in the evening you pay. Was also led to believe that wifi was available throughout the hotel, wrong only available in the main areas of the bar and reception area. Rooms were clean and tidy with a good shower. Not double glazing so there was a lot of noise from outside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall it was ok for the night but for business not so good without the wifi in the rooms. Great for a beach visit with the other half and kids

Booked a midweek break at the Burlinton hotel on the main sea front just past the pier.
Room was a fair size a bit dated with an old fashion tv with 6 channels.
Plus only Wi-Fi in lobby area.
Otherwise a great value place to stay, helpful staff, food very good with plenty of choice and good presentation.
Now serving a buffet style breakfast.
Hotel is in great location .
Would def stay again .

Great location, by the pier, with a lovely terrace bar area, so, even if it's raining, you can at least people-watch... The reception and bar staff are just wonderful (as are most of the restaurant staff). I could take them all home...! Mark Snow (Marky Mark), the resident entertainments host, is such good fun and really cares about giving people a good time - it just wouldn't be the same without him - as could be said for so many of the people who make the Burlington a good place to stay. If you have disabilities, the Burlington is a better choice than the Majestic, as it's nearer to the shops, etc. We go there, on average, once a month, which speaks for itself.

Nice Hotel, lovely staff and brilliant location.
We had a 3 night break with Shearings coaches,
On arrival to our room I had to ask for cups to be washed as they were found dirty!!
Rest of room clean and comfortable,
Food was good and staff in all areas friendly and helpful.
We had room 430 no view except fire escape and noisy in the morning from deliveries and Pigeons !!!!
Overall a lovely stay Thank you

Just returned from a five day break with Shearings. The hotel has an efficient and friendly staff run by the very approachable Sue. The meals were very good and the introduction of a self service high quality breakfast went down very well. the evening entertainment was overseen by the resident host Mark and his way of calling the bingo and conducting the quiz is unique and a great laugh. he was not there on the thursday night to our disappointment but was replaced by Ray Campbell a very accomplished all round entertainer who had everybody crying with laughter. We paid a little extra for aroom with a sea view The room was very spacious with large bathroom that contained bath and shower. It was always clean with great maid service.Thankyou Burlington, hope to see you again soon.

The staff from the manager (Chris) down are hard working and efficient, rooms clean and tidy, restaurant efficient and large (can hold 280 guests). Very close to town centre, turn right and right again and your there....
The only let-down was the entertainment area which is badly laid out, the bar prices are rather on the expensive side but the entertainment is very good, especially on the Thursday when an all round entertainer deserves a special mention, Ray Campbell (two hours plus, non stop).
Buses to Brighton frequent and nearby, though Eastbourne deserves a visit.

The Burlington Hotel is one of Shearings better hotels Food good and service very good the waiter Franchesca was very good always smiling and helpful our Room was a reasonable size tv was modern but on the small size as room had been recently refurbished the only down side was the Bath/Shower as after 4pm there was no hot water either from the Bath or Hand Basin we was offered another room on the last day to shower in warmer water apart from this we had a good midweek break the Coach driver James was great so informative

Room was fine, food and service were good, reception staff could not do enough for guests. Public areas have not been very well thought out, dining room would make a better entertainment area. There are very few seats that you can see the entertainment from - too many pillars and walls, only other seating room where you can get wifi is in the coffee lounge - these are not seats made for relaxing in except for 3 two seater setters which we were never quick enough to get as they were taken every night by the same 6 people, all other lounge seats are not for conversation in the evening because conversation is drowned by the entertainment. Hotel is in an ideal position, facing the gardens and promenade and there is a sun lounge the length of the hotel, not very warm in January, but will be lovely later in the year. Would we go again - yes!

I cannot understand the good reviews. The hotel is in a good location and is very big. We booked last minute so were not surprised to have a room at the back of the hotel with no view - no problem. However the room was like a sauna (in the middle of January) we decided it must be the radiator was on full so turned it down to off and opened the window (yes it was that hot) decided it would be cool enough by the time we got back from our evening so we could sleep. When we got back it was still like a sauna even with the radiator off, needless to say we did not have a good night's sleep. The next issue was breakfast was only served between 8 and 9 am (on a Sunday!), after no sleep went to breakfast - we had been told the day before when we checked in that we would be shown to our table in the morning. We walked in and no one came to us so I asked one the staff if we could sit anywhere upon which another member of staff started fussing say 'bed and breakfast guests follow me' and we were led to the far end of the restaurant - why I could not tell you - it was a bit Fawlty Towers. My husband had the full breakfast, I had scrambled eggs on toast - but actually it was more like milk blancmange on barely toasted bread which went soggy immediately probably due to the amount of milk in the 'scrambled egg' - I am the least fussy person when it comes to scrambled egg - I have happily eaten scrambled egg my husband would have sent back as overcooked. But surely to be called scrambled egg it should have egg in it! I am sure you will be able to find a better hotel than this. Advertised as having wi-fi - but only in public areas which did not look that welcoming to sit in.

Another great break here with Shearings. We were greeted by Chris with a lovely smile. The wonderful Mary helped moved the dining tables around so my husband could have his usual spot. The food was great and so too our room overlooking the sea. My only criticism is the bath towels - please can we have bigger ones for the more cuddlier of us??

We were in desperate need of a break and treated ourselves to a weekend at the Burlington which turned into a Faulty Towers fiasco. Having gone to bed early after a long day traveling & sightseeing we found the bathroom flooded. There was a leaking toilet pipe. Staff were fantastic & helped us move from a side room 119 to a front room with fantastic views & promised us some drinks on our last evening. Slept well the first night & then on the 2nd it was the coldest night of the year & a gale force wind wasblowing off the sea straight through the joins of the old sash cord windows. We asked for a heater as I have a very poor circulation problem but there was none available. We had to barricade the windows stuffing them with newspapers and putting bags & cases along the bottom of the lovely thick curtains to prevent the draught coming through. As I was nearest to the window & still felt a draught I slept in a wooly hat, gloves & several jumpers over my nightwear. We were so pleased to be going back the next day to the warmth of our own home. No more breaks for us in the winter!

Have been to this hotel for the past 5 years and brilliant for the Airbourne Show which is on every year round about the 15 or 16 of August of each year it is manic they have stalls selling all kind of fayre and you have airplanes all day its intense and the hotel nothing is to much trouble the breakfast is great and extras are on hand if you are really starving and the everning meal is the same you can have seconds then after your meal there is tea or coffee in the lounge then bingo and entertainment and the bar is cheap they also cater for familys so very good all rounder wi fi in bar for all

Our Third time at this lovely Hotel.I am the worlds worst packer and emailed to ask about the loan of an ironing board.Reception emailed back to say they would have one in our room when we arrived as I had requested.Brilliant.
We had a great journey down from Normanton in hotel by 5 so time to change for dinner 6.30 to 7.45 each evening breakfast 8 till 8.45.Our room on 4th floor large warm and comfortable.Room 406 overlooking the sea right opposite the lift.We were a bit dubious about this but we weren't disturbed at all.Our waitress was Miriam a very quiet shy but professional girl nothing any bother to her.Dinner was as usual hot and plentiful and the menu the same as other visits.Breakfast choice very good and you could ask for extra.
We were entertained by Mark who was as nice and funny as our other visits. He is such a people person.Well suited to the job.
The Bingo was good .All money paid for the tickets £4 for 6.or £2 a book was given back in prizes nothing was taken out.We enjoyed every nights entertainment and some of the quizzes really good fun. Also if people wanted to dance after the cabaret he would play disco music till 11.30.My only complaint would be the very cold entertainment room you need a cardigan or jacket.Something to do with the ventilation if very windy We had been to Lewes before so didn't go.But went to Battle and Rye trip bu this time of year castle and Abbey shut in Battle and too cold to walk about in Rye.Nice in summer I'm sure but places inside to visit in the winter would be so much better. All in all another lovely break in a hotel whose staff really care. There us a notice which says please tell us straight away if there us a problem and they will do there best to sort it.Will be back.
