When we arrived, discovered we were on the 4th floor. We had a sea view as requested, but the room was very small and in desperate need of some TLC. The following morning we found all the hot water was off, so cold showers all round. It was rectified later that day. We also discovered the shaver plug in the bathroom would not take the plug, so after complaining an adaptor plug was sent up, which meant charging our toothbrush in the bedroom. I also found the bath was very high off the floor, this made it difficult for me as I have 2 artificial hips and a knee in waiting. I would have asked to change rooms but it appeared the hotel was full. The other problem was the hairdryer. You had to keep hold of the switch to make it go. Again difficult with arthritic hands, so the rest of the holiday my hair was natural, and not dried. On the whole the food was ok, not sure about the buffet breakfast though. The queues for the toasters did get a bit ridiculous, so if you wanted toast with your breakfast you had to do it first before getting breakfast. It was a case of cold breakfast or cold toast. On the last day, waiting to get the lift down to breakfast, before catching a train home. I was told I could not use the lift as they were loading the cases for those going home by coach. Eventually I had to walk down the 4 flights of stairs. Not really acceptable. I go to quite a few Bay hotels, which on the whole I enjoy, but I will not be going back to the Burlington.

We went as part of a coach trip. The Hotel is in a great position, opposite the Pier. 3 of us in our group, we all had single rooms, the rooms had obviously just been completely re-done & were you had everything you needed, nice bed, furniture, nice TV, good shower. The breakfast was good, good choice & the evening meal was ok, good choice of food again. Staff were very helpful & friendly & they had evening entertainment, although I'm not a fan of the early evening bingo before the acts came on, but then again you can always go for a walk along the sea front. The only down side for me was that it didn't have wifi in the rooms, only in the Loby area. I would stay there again.

Really friendly Hotel and in a great Sea Front position, close to the pier and a short walk to a very good Shopping Centre. We had booked a Shearings weekend break tour and as always was great value for money, hotel is very clean and our room was very comfortable, food throughout was of a very good standard, good choices and always well presented and hot, staff were very friendly and helpful, restaurant staff work very hard and we never had to wait long to be served and were very well attended to by our waitress, breakfast was buffet which worked well for us as we were going on coach trips during our stay, this hotel has many returning guests as we discovered whilst chatting to others during our stay and seems to be very popular! We would definitely return.

We decided to take a three night break at Eastbourne and were not disappointed. Have been to this hotel previously and it was still very good. We were able to go out on the buses with our passes - the buses stopping almost outside the hotel or over the road and we were very lucky with the weather. Entertainment, food and staff very good.

Just back from a weekend at the Burlington. The hotel is tired in places but overall very good value. We both liked the buffet style breakfast and hope this is here to stay. Evening meal was also good, especially the cheese cake. Cheese and biscuits are also available on the menu whereas in a "Coast and Country" hotel you have to pay extra, we also think the food at a "Bay" hotel is much better.

We would have liked more "comfy"chairs in the lounge areas.

Hope to return in December.

Having just returned from a May bank holiday at this hotel I must say on average it was a good ,food good nice bedroom (434) the only downside was Mark still doing the same routine he has done for the past 7years a bit disappointing all the rest of the entertainment was very good particularly Billy Miller. Drink prices were OK and the staff professional and polite. We like the self service breakfast much better. The weather was kind to us.

Long weekend in Eastbourne with Shearings, staying at this hotel. Hotel is a bit tired, but had a newly refurbished, spacious room on the third floor with a sea view close to the pier and overlooking the flower gardens. Beautiful weather all weekend. Anything lacking in the hotel was made up for by the helpful, friendly staff. Very welcoming from arrival to departure. Food was basic coach excursion fare, but there are many good restaurants in Eastbourne.

Very enjoyable food not bad could be better they are doing the rooms up slowly,
For the older person, over looks the front.
Would I go back problaly. You only go back if it fits in a price range.
But if you stay at the Hilton, don't go.

This old hotel has an air of historical majestic splendour, both from its impressive imposing seafront location to its lavish interior. The large ornate lobby and dining rooms, have high ceilings with beautiful mouldings and classic chandeliers. The decorative condition and preservation of the front interior of this listed building, is impressive.
Regrettably parts of this building have been neglected, but some renovation is still in progress which does affect some floors to the detriment of visiting customers.
The building upgrade and plumbing has had a detrimental effect on water pressure on the fourth floor, and was a major disappointment to us in our room 430. This medium sized bedroom was very clean and in good decorative order. The only other problem was a broken blind in the bathroom along with the very low shower pressure. On the second night we had to shower with tepid water temperature as well. We reported these issues to reception, but it appears to be a known difficulty at times of high demand.
The only other negative issue we had with our stay was the poor (charged) parking facilities. This is located at the rear of the hotel, via a narrow one way road. Had we not telephoned the hotel before our arrival, we would have found it very difficult to find. We were also informed that on a Friday, a locked chain is placed across the entrance to the parking area. To gain access we needed to go through the rear entrance (via an intercom electronically operated door) and go to reception for them to unlock the chain link. Once we had gained access to this uneven waste ground, we found that the car park was full but managed to squeeze our car in at the end of a row of parked cars. It also had builders vans taking up some of the spaces. At reception we heard other people complaining of not being able to find a parking slot.
On a more positive note, the food was of a very good standard for a three star hotel. The three course dinner menu was varied, tasty, hot and well presented. However we were never offered coffee after our meal, as listed. The quality, quantity and selection were also very good for breakfast. The cleanliness of the dining room area and utensils, were exceptionally good. Our waitress Timi (hope I spelt this correctly) was excellent. She was attentive, polite and caring for her customer’s needs.
A final thank you must go the outstanding customer care service provided by Mary and Dion at the reception desk. They both dealt with our complaints professionally and calmly. I was also very impressed with how skilfully they processed a large influx of multiple coach parties.
The last night of our memorable two nights Shearing’s week-end break, was spent listening to some really good live music. Unexpectedly, we also had four free drinks each. Overall a very good value experience for my wife and I. If it were not for the negative issues raised, we would have elevated our experience to excellent.

Had a 4 night stay in this hotel. Enjoyed it, no problems. Staff all helpful. My single room looked fairly recently decorated, the bed felt like a new one. There was tea making facilities and a hair drier which I wasn't expecting.

We had a brilliant stay at this hotel. Staff were brilliant. Didn't see the manager though the staff were taking charge. Pedro was absolutely brilliant and rally looked after everyone including maintenance. Food was great and the room was fine everything clean and tidy. A lovely sea view from our room which was brilliant. No entertainment the first night but we made our own up with our coach party. Entertainment the next 2 nights was fine. Arranged our own bingo and won every night.

This is one of two Shearings/Bay hotels in Eastbourne. It is well situated right by the Carpet Flower Gardens, and about 100 metres from the pier. Its grade 2 listed facade is one of Eastbourne's landmarks. Most rooms have been re-furbished recently, and are of a good standard. Their staff are friendly, and there was average entertainment each night we stayed. The meals served were of a good standard. Bar prices were fair, and the general amenities were OK. There are 2 lifts, but often one was not working.
Parking around Eastbourne can be difficult, but there is a small hotel car park for about 30 cars, which you have to book in advance for £5 a night. But you can also park outside the hotel for £1 a day, using a council parking permit available at reception on request. I would recommend for a short break. We stayed for 3 weekend nights on half board, booked directly with Bay Hotels for £35 pppn.

Stayed here for one night at short notice. £95.00 for one night B&B was a bit pricey as the breakfast was at best poor. Bacon that tasted of nothing much and fried eggs that would have bounced off the floor. Gave us a poor room but did change it with no fuss. Bed was very small and looked a bit ridiculous in what was a fairly large room with a lovely sea view. Entertainment was very good on the night we stayed. The guy doing the singing was called Billy Miller and the compare Mark did a fine job making everyone feel welcome. Bar staff were all very friendly . I really do think Shearings could do so much better with the hotels they own. They have to, in my opinion up the quality and stop doing everything to a price as they do appear very cheap for longer stays. Suppose you get what you pay for but I would like a bit more in the way of bed and meals.

Stayed here 4 April for 5 days. Reception were very welcoming and professional. Lovely room facing the sea, and not too noisy from the road. Staff were very friendly and our entertainment guy (Mark) was a joy. Food was good. Our coach drivers were funny and very courteous and helpful.

6 family members booked this hotel throught Shearings...I was the one with a few reservations, having never done a "Coach Trip"...I was completely blown away with the level of service.
Boarded our coach in Preston, handed our luggage over, and was welcomed on board. Our cases were not seen again until we got to our room at the hotel, where they were waiting for us after check in. Excellent service.

The room had been recently refurbed, as all the rooms are, some are still having work done on them, but most have had clean contemporary furniture installed. Decent sized bathroom with bath and overhead shower, beautiful white fluffy towels, plus little soaps too.

Comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, and the tea and coffee was replenished every morning too, the bed linen was crisp, clean and eye poppingly white.

The food in the hotel was of a good standard, especially the breakfast. Self service, but if any of the older guests needed assistance, the lovely staff were always around to carry plates and juices to your table.
The choice at breakfast was exceptional, cereals, porridge, juices, yoghurts, hash browns, sausage, bacon, eggs, (fried and scrambled) tomatoes, and the chef also would cook to order, kippers, poached eggs or ham...very impressed. Tea and coffee served by your waiter too. Toast, jams, marmalades and butter also.

Evening meals were waiter served, menu on tables, choice of 4 items per course, and a chef's special too.Iced water always on offer throughout your meal, and tea and coffee served to you at the coffee stop....so everything anyone could need. The food was of a good standard, the pate was scrummy, as was the cheesecake...yummy!

Bar.
One bar in the hotel, which opened at 17.00 hours until midnight, prices good compared to some prices charged in other hotels.
The staff were attentive, and very courteous, Florian, was a star, he remembered what we were drinking after one round, mind you, we do like a drink, and are no shrinking violets....service from bar staff was first class. Thanks guys.

Entertainment.
They has something on every night.
Bingo, quiz and a little music before 9.30, then either a Singer, comedienne or local act....then some excellent music played from 11 onwards, and everyone was up strutting their stuff...Pulp Fiction has nothing on us....Brilliant.

Mark the MC, and quiz master, is a welcoming man, who spoke with everyone, tried his best to please everyone's musical preferences, and had us all laughing. He was a good singer too,and he showed off his voice singing some Songs from the West End Musicals. A good night was had by all. Thanks Mark.

We had an excellent 4 day break, and I would recommend to anyone. We will certainly be coming back..( if they will have us)

Thank you to all the wonderful staff. Stand up and take a bow.

See you all agin soon.

I came for two nights on my own just to walk and 'chill'. What better place than the Burlington. Well situated for buses up the coast and for an early trip round the pier before breakfast. I felt comfy, well fed, safe and very content. After a long days walking -away from family, washing gardening etc- to sit in bed watching TV with a glass of Prosecco was a delight. The sound of the waves and the gulls in the early morning was very relaxing too. Also amazing weather which is always a bonus. It is very good value for money.

Stayed for five days upgraded to a superior rooms, very clean and comfortable.
Lovely hotel situated on the seafront one concern was highlighted was the steps at the front entrance, two people fell during our stay and it maybe beneficial to have a ramp installed.
Staff friendly.Enjoyed the food.
Meet some nice people during our stay enjoyed the entertainment and Mark calling the bingo.
