We have just returned from a seven day break at this hotel We booked a Standard Plus room with a sea view and were not disappointed. The room was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean
The meals were varied and the waiter service was amazing (our waiter was Daniel) All the staff work hard - this is such a busy hotel - they are very efficient
One down side might be the scarcity of lifts especially for people like myself with mobility problems but the lifts that were there moved up and down quickly so we didn't experience any traumas!
This was one enjoyable relaxing holiday This is our sixth Shearing Hotel we have been at and we have not been disappointed yet and nothing to do with the weather being amazing too!

We have just returned from a very enjoyable weeks holiday at Burlington Hotel Eastbourne. All the staff (reception, restaurant, bar and housekeeping)are very helpful and friendly. The food is very good with a good choice each night. We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment particularly the quizzes and cabarets. In particular the singer Megan Garcier was very good and extremely talented. The Entertainment Host, Debbie Lee James, worked really hard to ensure everyone had a good time and kept us entertained with her singing, funny stories and quizzes. Looking forward to going again.

Four of us have just arrived home after a 5 day break. We originally booked the coach holiday, taking in excursions, the first to Great Diixter gardens and Rye and a half day visiting Bexhill . The holiday was booked through Shearings. We were to be picked up in Shoreham Sussex at 7.20 am and transported to London Gateway, for a stop before travelling to Eastbourne on another coach, arriving approx 4.30pm !!!! we live less than an hour away from Eastbourne and could not understand why on earth we were expected to travel up the M! first!.....Our friend that was travelling with us is in a wheelchair but can with help climb onto a coach, for which they had to pay another £20 for the privilege of sitting in the 2 front seats. As the time drew nearer we wondered what on earth were we thinking of, and so we decided to make our own way there by car , but as we had already paid for everything inc the trips, we wanted to keep them. It cost another £6 per day to park behind the Hotel and they charge another £15 for the use of a room suitable for a disabled patron. Of which there is only the one . It has a single electric bed and a general one, a large bathroom with rails, but a big deep bath! no wet room or access to get in and out of the bath or shower. The room is also situated on the first floor. Also the building does not have a ramp to enter through the main entrance, instead you have to negotiate a wheelchair through the dining room and out through a narrow side door that has a ramp. So if you have a wheelchair, do not forget that the way in is through a back door, or through the dining room. This, if you are are the person with the disabilities is extremely hard to manouvre, the door is not kept open and impossible to negotiate. When you arrive back from a day out you have to ring a bell and someone will come and let you in. We are living in 2017, but sadly some Hotels etc are oblivious to this, and the fact that real people have real disabilities and should be considered and catered for should be their right. Whilst we were in Eastbourne we also viewed the Hotel next door which is smaller, though despite this has 4 ground floor rooms with everything to help someone in our friends situation, wet rooms, rails, etc.
Our room was basic but comfortable, with everything we needed except air con or at least a fan! this hotel is unbearably HOT....there is no air anywhere. It has absolutely nothing to do with us having a hot spell as suggested by the manageress. We spoke at length to certain members of staff who told us that although there is air conditioning units they have not been used for at least 20 YEARS!!!! what on earth is that all about??? The windows in the bedrooms are painted or stuck down some other way, and after some brute force we managed to lift the sash window by 4 inches! The dining room had a couple of free standing fans that just circulated the already hot air. Neither of which were at our end of the room despite promises of ..."we will make sure you have one near you for dinner tonight"....The one and only door was sometimes propped open but generally closed again soon after. How the staff work in such conditions is a matter for health and safety in my opinion. We were ...putting it crudely dripping with persperation, the majority of the time , as were many other folk who commented on this but only to other guests. I called over the Restaurant manager and asked to speak to the Hotel Manager who was apparently away on her holidays.
The staff throughout our stay were obliging, courteous and friendly especially Marta in the restaurant who was always a ray of sunshine. The evening meals were fabulous, imaginative and tasty, the buffet breakfast not so imaginative but have had worse.
A special mention must be made to our Coach driver Kevin, he made our outings with his amazing knowledge of everything, we learnt such a lot , he also has the most fantastic personality and humor and had us in stitches. A real pro, thanks Kevin.
The Hotel is in a prime position on the seafront with the Pier opposite and the beautiful gardens, plus the shops and the Arndale centre a short stroll away. Sadly it is let down by the shabby interior, with stained carpets, peeling paintwork and complete lack of temperature control. Next time we will be booking elsewhere. Such a shame but they really need to get their act together. Read the recent reviews Bay Hotels doesn't that tell you something? there are so many decent places in Eastbourne to stay....and people WILL vote with their feet!

The hotel is clean and tidy and shows signs of being "freshened up". Staff were very polite and helpful. Meals were good value for money and we enjoyed what we ate. We travelled with Shearings. Not keen on the luggage system as we had to wait for 45mins after our arrival for them to be on the floor we were staying at. I retrieved our bags from the lift area but WASN'T challenged by the staff delivering luggage. This was a little disconcerting as there was a note in our room warning about a recent spate of thefts in the hotel. The system of leaving luggage outside the room at 2300hrs the night before departure was not convenient for not only us but for a lot of other guests who also commented. This said it didn't distract from an enjoyable stay.

So hot my partner and I had to skip meals in restaurant even though waitress service was friendly. Bedroom was u bearable even though reception loaned a fan. Room 131 be aware when booking this was our second room.

Stayed here 4 nights. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Shower and towels good but the bathroom cried out for a towel rail. Restaurant service was quick and friendly. Food was unremarkable and lacked some imagination and care. For some inexplicable reason the central heating was on in reception and the corridors despite the outside temperature being 25 degrees plus !! What a waste of energy and money !! The breakfast buffet was good but spoilt by very long queues - this could be easily resolved by having plates available at each end thus splitting the queueing time in half as all the hot food available was duplicated - not rocket science !!

have just got home after 5 days at the Burlington Hotel.
Had room 125.There is only one plug in the whole room.We had to keep the windows open with used water bottles and the room was still 28 degrees.Had difficulty turning off the towel rail which made the bedroom even hotter. The shower is over the bath which worked very well.
The food was excellent and the staff were great.

Paid £141 for 3 nights including food per person for a deluxe sea view room which is a bargain for a stay in July. Food was great and room nice. Hotel has no air con though and is absolutely boiling so hard to sleep

Still plenty of room for Improvement. I stayed at The Bay Burlington Hotel last year & reviewed it. I stayed again, and this is what I found. There is Limited Parking, so if you are coming by Car, see if you can Book a Parking Space. I could not this time, but Parking Vouchers are Sold @ £1 a day. Why I was sold 1 after 6pm, I don't know as it was not needed. Reception - Good. My Room ( 217 ) Very Nice, 4 Poster Bed, Water & Fruit, Flat Screen T.V.
Now we come to the Restaurant, again. Dinner, it seems you only get a Roll, if you have Soup ? Then the Waiter turned up with 2 Rolls on a Plate, 1 White, 1 Brown. What if the Guests wanted 2 White or 2 Brown ? To finish off your Meal, there is Coffee. But, you have to leave your Table to get your Coffee, from the Coffee Shop ? Breakfast. Just like before, Run out of Orange Juice, Not Refilled. Run out of Fried Eggs, Run out of Bacon. Had to wait with half my Breakfast on the Plate until Fresh Fried Eggs & Bacon turned up. Sunday, Run out of Scrambled Eggs & Juice, again.
The Bar. Open a Room A/C or Check your Change at the Bar before leaving. I purchased 2 drinks on my Room a/c, signed for them, no problem. The next time, I thought I would pay Cash. Same 2 drinks, handed over a £20 Note, got the change, put it in my pocket. Later that evening, sorting out my Pockets / Change, wondered why I had a £5 Note ? I had handed over a £20 Note, the 2 Drinks came to £8, I was given £8 change. So where did the £4 go ???
Also, if you buy a Large Glass of Dry White, be Careful. A 250ml of Season White will be £5.65 ( don't spend that much on a bottle ) but IF they give you a 250ml of Ponte Pinot, you will be charged £7.15 for a Glass of Wine.
Entertainment. Well, there was No Mark this time, even though it is on the Website. Instead we had a Lady Entertainments Manager, Flouncing about. Where does she get her Music from ? and Who is it Singing ? It's like the Records from the 60,s where somebody is Killing a Good Song.

Went back to the hotel despite having a bad time with the food last year and was pleasantly surprised that it had substantially improved.
We upgraded our room to a sea view on the forth floor which was a great improvement
Overall we had a great time

Currently staying at Burlington Hotel, Eastbourne. A few problems along the way to arriving, but cannot fault the hotel. Obviously very professionally managed and suberb, friendly staff at all levels. We went for the cheapest room option, but it is very clean and adequate, modern furniture, bath and shower, overlooking the rear, but a decent view from the third floor, room 301. Evening meals are wonderful, ample tables for two. Not too keen on the buffet breakfast, but others prefer that. Feel sorry that we probably won't return, but that will only be down to the horrendous motorways, with three major hold ups, and Shearlings weird pricing structure, where we had to pay extra when they cancelled our original choice, only to see the price fall the week after. Thoroughly recommend the hotel though. My wife is a retired hotel housekeeper, so it's nice to see all the staff so friendly and efficient.

Located at the end of the main shopping street, right on the seafront. Parking available. Sea facing rooms are quite nice. Food is average, but good self-service choice breakfast. Reception is helpful. Evening entertainment leaves a bit to be desired. Overall a decent mid-price hotel.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Burlington hotel at Eastbourne. Firstly I will say that the stay was great. The hotel does half board. The breakfast is self serve with a good choice, orange or apple juice, water, tea or coffee. Cereal, and 2 fruits and a full choice of the English breakfast, toast or just bread. The evening meal is 3 course and a good choice of which is served up to you by waiters/waitresses. All the staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful. The rooms are roomy and clean. The only downfalls are the tv are old and only have the 5 basic channels (not even free view). Also the woodwork needs a fresh paint job. The location of this hotel is on the sea front and next to the pier. Also close to local shops and bars. I will say this hotel is for the older generation and so is the entertainment.

My husband and I had a really lovely first time stay at the Burlington, we paid a little extra for a upgraded room with sea view, it was well worth it. The room was very large and very clean, towels changed regularly and coffee, tea etc renewed every day. All the staff were very polite and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable, we will definitely be going back.

Nice view to the sea, good and clean standard room. Very rich breakfast. Located in the centre of the city. Just, be aware, that this hotel (and seem whole city of Eastbourne) is dedicated to geezers. You have to wait at reception and hear our thousands of complaints... But still a good place to stay, I recommend.

Had to change my room on arrival, as the bathroom had a big step going up to it! Certainly not good for an OAP, even a young one like me. New room was ok, had a shower the next day and got locked in the shower!! Couldnt open the door as there was just a small knob, no handle, and my hands were slippery and wet. Took ages to dry my hands enough to escape, but that was not a good experience at all. The food at the hotel was absolutely excellent, the entertainment was amazing, just a shame the whole hotel is so so shabby but spotlessly clean. Would I stay here again? Yes probably for the food and entertainment, nothing else.

Stayed in room 312 which was a standard plus. Fantastic room with a sea view. Staff without exception very friendly and efficient . Food varied and plentiful and service in dining room very efficient (Thank you Marta who always delivered the meals with a smile). Buffet breakfast - good idea !. Lovely to have the facility to make your own toast as personally hate having "tepid toast" delivered as soon as you sit down. Always use self drive facility so cannot comment on coach travel. All in all really good value as we have paid double the price elsewhere just for bed and breakfast. Enjoyed it so much we have rebooked a longer break later in the year.

I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the burlington hotel. Myself and hubby went there to recharge our batteries which is what we did. The staff were so friendly and the hotel guests! There is a lovely coffee lounge and seating area to sit in and relax. Entertainment on most nights and the hotel is located nearby to the pier and shops etc.
The food is plentiful and tasty but you may have to wait to be served by the waiter as he's run off his feet serving guests.
My slight gribble is the disco music comes thumping up the ceiling on the 1st floor. So if you go to bed at 11.pm don't expect it to quieten down until midnight.
But all in all a fab time. Will we be back you bet!

Stayed for one night (on a jolly). Requested sea-view when ordering a standard room and were pleasantly surprised to get one. View was lovely! Didn't use the bar or restaurant or entertainment so can't comment. We had the usual fare in the local Weatherspoon's (Cornfield) and went to The Crown and Anchor to watch a local band.

We stayed fur nights at the Burlington with self-drive Shearings. W e paid extra for a twin room with sea view. The room was large with a rather old fashioned en-suite. I found it difficult to work out how to work the shower, but a maintenance man was sent up straight away to show me. The mattresses were not good, and I requested replacements but was told they did not have any, but we could have a topper. We ended up putting our spare pillows under the mattress. The food was very good, (better than expected) and the entertainment every night was excellent. We would stay here again. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and Eastbourne is lovely. Car parking is available at £5 per night, and well worth it.
