A very enjoyable stay. Both the Breakfast and the evening meals were very good and helpful staff in the dining room.
The room was nice and airy even though we did not have a view.
We would definitely come back.

We stayed for three nights in this hotel and were very happy and would go back again The hotel is in an excellent location is has ample parking and is very reasonably priced The hotel could do with a bit of paint around in some places, and it’s obviously short of staff at the moment like most hotels

The breakfast was great. A help yourself was so much appreciated.. There are certain foods I cannot eat so to choose what I can eat was excellent My sons £250 coat went missing from our room after the cleaners had been in.
The management said they questioned all the staff but nothing ?????????

Lovely room, lovely views, would stay again! Amazing views of the pier and sea from the rooms. The rooms are also a good size and were very clean. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed the entertainment in the evening too! The bar prices are also very reasonable. The hotel is a bit tired in places, but I wouldnt let that put you off. The front bar also had a limited selection of drinks, but again, relatively minor.

Overall very good stay, dining room was very warm for breakfast and limited options for seating, made the experience a little less than expectation as made eating slightly uncomfortable. Property a little dated and needs repairs here and there but didnt affect the stay one bit.

Surrounding areas were amazing.

Would definitely visit here again, and would recommend overall.

The room was very tired and sooooo hot. We were on the second floor and it was unbearable. There was a very small fan which did not work properly. Horrible nights sleep. Would not stay there again!!

Grand old lady still has seaside-resort charm We wound up here because we couldn't find any reasonably-priced lodging in Brighton on our 6-week round-England self-guided tour, so booking.com helped us find this hotel for a reasonable price, much less than anything in Brighton. We really didn't know anything about Eastbourne and weren't expecting much after reading Bill Bryson's latest book about the declining state of English seaside resorts. So we were quite pleasantly surprised both by the hotel, the town, and also the closeness of attractions like Beachy Head, Seven Sisters park, and Alfriston, which were just short side trips. The hotel is of course one of those grand old ladies which has seen better days, but our room was first rate and everything worked fine including the WiFi (which worked in our room even though booking.com said in only worked in "public areas"). I think the owners have a real commitment to keeping the tradition of fine English seaside resorts alive and well, and it shows. The location is fantastic; the pier is right across the street, and it is better than the Brighton Pier which has succumbed to the American obsession with computer games. There are flowerbeds right across the street! And we had the hands-down best fish and chips at Qualisee, just two blocks from the hotel. There are many restaurants and pubs close to the hotel. The parking situation, like almost everywhere on a small island with too many cars, is a bit dicey. You can park in front of the hotel long enough to offload your luggage, but you take your chances with the hotel parking lot, which can be full (and you can't reserve a spot). The hotel recommended a multi-story parking garage about 5 blocks away, which we used the first night. The next day we paid for a spot in the hotel parking lot, but it was full when we got back from our Beachy Head-Seven Sisters-Alfriston expedition -- however the hotel front desk saved the situation by directing us to park in a spot blocking a car of a local resident who rarely drove. We only stayed two nights so didn't have to wrestle with parking after that, and it was more of an inconvenience than a real problem. But an inconvenience after driving on the wrong side of the road all day, down lanes that are not wide enough for two cars to pass comfortably, is more annoying than it would be for a train traveler.

Good value for money Staff were friendly, building has character, nice size room and nice views. Parking can be a little difficult as you can't make a reservation for parking and 2 of the days the road to the carpark was closed, which was a bit inconvenient. It would have been helpful if staff had made me aware of this in advance so that I could have planned accordingly.

Location first class, large, comfortable room, with good catering facilities.
In general the paintwork all over the hotel is very tired, chipped, discoloured and in places dirty.
In our room 404, a large flake of paint is coming away on the coving above the wardrobe and the veneer on the desk has bits missing. The door to the room was ill fitting and rattled in the wind. The bathroom curtain was dirty and had holes in it, and the lampshade on the desk lamp was dirty. The carpet was stained, and the door handle to the bathroom was ill fitting, as was the toilet seat, being a square seat on an oval pan. The toilet paper was awful, very thin, and there were no tissues or sanitary bags. The hotel is very tired looking, and only one small lift was in operation. The whole building seemed generally run down, for a prestige hotel on the sea front. There was a frayed carpet in the dining room, and some staff need training in customer relations. The breakfast menu was not flexible in that only scrambled eggs from liquid eggs were available, no alternatives. Very good car parking facilities at the rear of the hotel.

Loved location.view of the Pier, beach and beautiful flower gardens, and not far from shops. Bed very comfortable.Room clean. Staff at reception pleasant and helpful.Good breakfast choices. Would have liked fried egg. Loved the mini croissants. Television - Poor signal to no signal.
Breakfast many things run out. Having to ask staff for several things, from plates to cups, which should have been on the table.seemed to be short staffed. Things should be topped up before running out but no one overseeing that aspect.
The corridors a bit dimly and carpets a bit old and in need of brightening up.
