Certainly ticked all our criteria as we just needed beds for the evening. Beautiful building but with all old buildings requiring some maintenance. Rooms were lovely and clean, staff very friendly and a good breakfast buffet - a HUGE shoutout though to the breakfast staff who went out of their way & above and beyond to supply gluten-free bread/toast for my daughter when they'd actually run out .

The location and the friendly staff The band playing music in front of the hotel on Sunday afternoon didn't allow resting.

Late booking & had a slight issue upon arrival. The manager was very apologetic & the issue was resolved very quickly. We ended up staying another night. The weather wasn’t kind but the sea view was lovely. Breakfast was much calmer and nicer on the Monday morning. Bar staff were very friendly & helpful. Reception staff polite and friendly too. Ended up being a very pleasant stay. Very dog friendly. Would return again. But would always go for a sea view if possible. The hotel is very old but there is something about it that makes it worth a visit.

Stayed 3 nights on a coach trip from Hull so I wasn't expecting luxury (you get what you pay for). Yes, the hotel is dated and looking tired, but our room was clean and tidied up daily. The staff were all great, so not sure about some of the recent reviews. Meals were good for a coach holiday. Breakfast was a bit of a let down as the buffet area was tiny for such a lot of guests, so the food kept running out. I've scored it down for the lift being out of order. 2 lifts for a place this size is crazy especially with one down. It must have been out of service for a while looking at reviews. I kept letting the older people go before me as I felt I had to being younger. (Even though I had a stroke so my legs aren't very strong.) I would book again though and hopefully the lift would be fixed

Lovely old hotel. Full of charm Gorgeous seafront hotel. We had room overlooking the beach. Hearing the waves crashing was great.
I liked the faded charm of the place. Typical seaside hotel. Probably very popular in victorian times. Good facilities, nice breakfast . Friendly staff and welcoming to our dog too.
Nice bar and evening entertainment. Nice to see lots of elderly people enjoying a holiday there.
Obviously rather dated, but actually that has a certain charm to me anyway. The loo was too close to the wall. Lift was super slow and only 1 in service.

Nice dog friendly hotel in a central location! Huge hotel, great location, friendly staff. Nice restaurant and bar. Very dog friendly, even allowed in the restaurant. Room was nice. Hotel was hot. Luckily room had a fan. Rooms could do with a renovation as it looks tired.

We stayed here as a group and bought our dogs which they charge £10 each for. £10 to upgrade to a superior sea view room. Nice big room with everything you need inside. Tea and coffee station. Sea view is stunning. Great view of the pier, which is a few steps away outside the hotel.

The hotel is dated and faded but that was part of its charm. It has a lot of character. Nice big dining room for breakfast which has a good buffet style fry up.

Nice bar area with a live entertainer and pub quiz on.

A couple negatives. The loo was so close to the wall you can barely fit on it. The loo seat was broken. The soap dispenser didn’t work. And the lifts were extremely slow and one was out of order so easier to take the stairs.

Trip to the bandstanf Great customer service when I asked for a early check-in to make sure I was able to change before performing on the bandstand. It was great value for money but it would be good to see it have an uplift. I would pay more. The breakfast was good value but would have been good to have eggs. Some finished scrambled eggs was all I saw.

Good location, but needs updating The best thing about this property is its location.
If you were lucky enough to get a seafront room you may have been able to open a window for some air. It does have its own off street parking.
The property is very tired and it’s starting to show.
We had to ask for the curtains in our room to be hung up as they were hanging by 1 hook! Obviously no one had checked the room before guests were to stay in there. It was very hot and stuffy in the room, window was fixed and unable to be opened, thankfully a small desk fan was in room for some air flow.

Excellent hotel, great location, clean, comfortable & spacious room. Thank you Fantastic hotel and mini break. Loved the hotel and tye staff were all friendly and helpful. Exceptionally great double room with the most amazing sea view. Met our request for a high floor. Room was spotless and very spacious. Loved the decor .... had everything you would want in a room. We were half board and impressed by the food. Location is brilliant too. Thank you and wil definitely return. Nothing

Pleasant comfortable long weekend with lovely bedroom view. Perfect catering for the older guest... Comfortable mattresses/ good shower/ good size tv/ great view of Eastbourne Pier&Carpet Gardens from Room206
Helpful FOH staff, Maintenance Staff & Breakfast Staff. VG Cumberland sausages along with good selection of hot choices at breakfast.
Bar snacks available until 6pm.
Dinner served between 6 & 7pm.
Hotel did not have a recycling policy - everything being put into black bin liner waste.
This is a very poor situation considering that a Green Policy has been adopted by many Hospitality Providers.
We currently have a Climate Crisis and must do our utmost to save our planet ... It would not be difficult to provide rooms with separate bins for recycling waste & other waste. BEST WESTERN HOTELS DO THIS!
Also the Burlington is spacious enough to provide separate recycling bins in their communal areas...

On a refurbishment note: This impressive building is crying out for a decent entrance - not the 2 small awkward doors
present as of July 2023! Not automatic but very difficult to open with luggage in tow... Why not save money by turning off bathroom radiators in Summer Season & replace entrance doors??
One of 2 small public lifts out of order beginning of July 2023 - resulting in queues of anxious people.
Also windows not opening properly in bedroom & bathroom of Room 206.

Great hotel, with so much history loved looking out over the sea and hear the waves
Good beds! And that is very important . My wife is a bad sleeper, but had the best sleep for ages.
Hope the hotel can survive, because we love it, but it needs a lot of maintenance

Clean and comfortable, polite and courteous service from the staff. Ideal location opposite the pier. Car park at rear. Pleasant and spacious sea view room. Similar to a lot of these older seaside town hotels, it needs a refurbishment as some surfaces and fittings showing signs of wear.

A good overnight stay with a view I had a problem with the room soon after checkin and after telling reception I was moved to another room straight away which was a bonus as it had a lovely sea view and was a very comfortable room.
I could not fault the staff in any way, they were helpful and friendly in what is a very busy hotel with coach parties coming and going.
The food in the restaurant was good value for the money paid and the choice was good.
The small lift!
