Beach front location. Overlooking the pier.
Freezing cold room. Draft through window. No heating.

This is a very nice, old-worldly hotel with modern services at the best spot in Eastbourne: the promenade. The view is fantastic and you only have to cross the road for a stroll along the beach or a swim.
Our room was large but sparsely furnished: all the basics but good quality.
The breakfast was excellent, there’s a bar where you can take away a drink up to your room or sit down to enjoy your drink as well as the view.
The staff are helpful and there’s a large carpark right behind the hotel.

Super rooms, do not be put off by the entrance and lift
The room was large, very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with enough towels and toiletries.
The entrance, common areas and lift look very tired. This does not give a great impression.

The staff go above and beyond ( Jack, you are a true credit to the hotel!) to make you feel welcome and accommodate your needs.
There is no denying the hotel is showing it's age in places but this only adds to its charm. Given it's fascinating history and location this hotel is great value for money and we will come back again!

Nice room and location for price
Room was nice despite being a rear double it was spacious and had comfy bed.
Bathroom was perfectly adequate

Table placement needs to be simplified - on entry asked to avoid certain tables and only eat in certain section
I didn't like that staff stand in silence looking at customers eat ! lol it can feel uncomfortable to be honest
Some pleasant music in breakfast room would improve the atmosphere
Hot food counter had an odd odour i don't know if it was the scrambled eggs or another food item but it was off putting

Would have liked plugs next to bed other than that the room was perfectly adequate

Good value for price but not for long stay
Great location. Own car park (didn't use) but good value for £6 if I had. I knew I could park 6pm-8am on sea front free.
Staff friendly and efficient Drab decor throughout. Colour combination of 3 colour tones of Dove grey, sea mist green and something between the two. On a wet Autumn October night certainly doesn't lift your spirts. Room decor not much better as continues. Furniture adequate but a cheaper version of IKEA.

No coffee provided after dinner. Tired restaurant we were placed by a window which was desperate for redecoration. No background music in restaurant.

Not like it used to be, now tired with a lack of entertainment and also for example no coffee after dinner, with room not serviced completely as you would expect. But very friendly service from staff making our stay pleasantly enjoyable and good WiFi.

Had lovely weather and location was excellent think Eastbourne has a lot to offer.
Both breakfast and evening meal very good choices, taste and presentation. Found staff very obliging and helpful.
Lifts were old and if busy had to wait as only a few could get in.

Good value stay in a beautiful old building right by the sea.
Front line beach hotel, it was perfect for a short stay. The reviews are too critising for a old building which is being kept going, well, in the current state of affairs. Staff polite, rooms good size and beds were comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities. A good value stay.
