We stayed one night in Eastbourne when watching the tennis. Although the hotel is in need of some TLC the room was very spacious, clean with crisp linen. The staff were all extremely cheerful and Sarah on reception was most helpful regarding some medication which needed to be stored in a fridge. Very good breakfast. Parking was perfect and Devonshire park was a short walk away along the front.

The Burlington is across the road from the pier with sea views from the dining room. The staff were lovely. Small bar with a conservatory style view of the esplanade. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast included was hot and cold. Ben the operation manager was welcoming and always available to help out.

If you are looking for an affordably priced room in an older beach front hotel that has a warm, welcoming atmosphere then it is well worth a try. Some of the overly fussy reviews are frankly misleading so check it out for yourself & you may be pleasantly surprised. The friendly team will ensure you have a pleasant stay. The sheets & towels were lovely & clean & the room met basic needs & was functional & fine for anyone on a tight budget. The very generous buffet style breakfast was really delicious. Sea view rooms are available as are quieter rooms at the back & the shore is a stones' throw away across the seafront road, from the main entrance. For singletons & those needing to stretch their funds it has character & a faded elegance other more modernised establishments do not. I enjoyed my stay there in the late Spring & would stay there again happily. Sarah of Gems.

Perfect location. Booked a superior sea view room for a reasonable price. The view was first class, and the room was a lovely size with the high ceilings. The room and ensuite was clean and presentable. Nice selection of condiments in the room.
Only negative things I would say is the decor elsewhere in the hotel were a little run down/outdated and could do with some paint and new carpets but all was clean. It's an old building with alot of character, so there was alot of creaking - we were woken early in the morning by the guests in the upstairs room moving around and creaking the floorboards. No fault of theirs of course but something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper.
Overall a nice hotel for a short break right next to the sea, pier and all the local shops and restaurants you could ask for. Staff were all very kind and friendly, nothing seemed too much trouble. Of course I can only speak for the superior room so have no idea what the standard rooms were like. I would return there if visiting Eastbourne again.

Grand hotel (1851) that's faded and needs refurb. Under new management who are bringing the place up. Reception helpful. Room needed a lightbulb changes, and bathroom fittings repaired. No room fridge. WiFi worked. Cocktail bar led by a real enthusiast. Breakfast not so great. Staff helping everyone, and pastries (ordered in I suspect) good. But the cooked breakfast could be better without much extra cost

We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Although the hotel is quite old we had a lovely bedroom where we could see the sea, very comfortable beds and excellent shower with hot water all the time. All the staff, especially Ben, couldn’t do enough for us - and always with a smile. One of our party is a vegetarian and the chef, Steven, came and spoke to her to see what he could do for her for the evening dinner. We hope to come back.

Majestic Victorian building right on the sea front and so close to the pier

I would recommend this hotel . We loved it from start to finish it’s been a great staycation ! The receptionist was so friendly and checked us in . We didn’t like our first room but she quickly upgraded us to a delightful sea view room with stunning views ! It was worth paying an extra £25 a night . The breakfast dining room is very grand and there’s a good selection of cereals fruit and cooked food . The waiting staff are very good and attentive . I really liked the blue bar and we had a bar meal whiich was very reasonable and the food was good . Parking is limited but we got street parking outside . The location of the hotel couldn’t be better to get to bars, restaurants shops and amusements . The sightseeing bus is also close by and well worth the trip . The entertainment has been good and the drinks prices are reasonable. Some areas need a face lift and the lift needs upgrade but everything else has been super !

The hotel was lovely, large and spacious with very high ceilings, the location on the seafront opposite the Pier and only minutes walk to the shops, bars, restaurants and theatres was brilliant. Our room was a standard double at the rear of the hotel on the first floor, it was clean, comfortable and large. The ensuite had a small bath with shower over it, the room had a TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer and plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. A bonus was a table and 2 chairs so we had a little seating area which was great.
On the downside staff on reception were not overly friendly or welcoming and on arrival were not particularly informative. There was entertainment in the hotel every night of our stay but we were not informed of this on arrival. The hotel has a car park which is great we pre booked our space via Shearings it costs £6 a day, but when we got there it became clear that it was first come first served as no allocated space was given to us, we were lucky to get a space. The restaurant food was good we were on a half board basis, the choices for evening meal were limited but fine. Breakfast was very good buffet style, your choice of cereals, fruit juice, yoghurt , porridge and croissants, as well as the full English, so fried or scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, tinned plum tomatoes and baked beans, brown or white toast and marmalade or jams. No mushrooms but a small gripe.
The restaurant did not have a wine list and bar staff were lovely but had little knowledge of wines, one waitress when asked what a caprese salad was just said 'I dunno I haven't seen it' with out offering to go and find out for us.
The Burlington overall was very good and we enjoyed our stay, if the reception staff could just be a bit warmer in their welcome and bar and restaurant staff be just a little better trained it could be excellent.

Lovely stay here with my Wife, hotel overlooking the sea.
Breakfast was nice, lots of variety to eat.
Rooms are clean, but the whole hotel very dated , but has got the old feel/ look about it, you can see it’s being modernised slowly. The hotel car park has limited spaces, good luck !
Would stay here again.
