The whole experience is fantastic and cosy, hotel very welcoming, breakfast lovely, but best of all are the staff they are so careing. For example we went for a snack at 6.02pm, for our tea. they had just stopt serving, but they went to the kitchen and asked and made us our request. That was very thoughtful. We are now booked in for Christmas. Hotel itself could do with a little decorating.

Radiator barely worked it was really cold. (Radiator needs bleeding) Borrowed a heater but that was faulty itself. Wasn't very clean.

So I visited in november 2023, also in October as well.
Why, well both times I got a great deal for only £24 a night for a single room including breakfast, I dont think you can really find better value than this on the south coast.
Its well located on the seafront, the town itself has pleanty to offer and its fairly easy to explore the south coast-brighton, hastings, beachy head and the coast etc.
The staff were all really freindly-I was even allowed to check in an hour and a half early for no charge, which was kind gesture. The room, yes its a old hotel, yes theres a few water leaks as its an old building but the room on both occasions has been clean, well equipped, the bedding fresh and the bathroom recently refurbished.
Breakfast has all of the fundamentals and a great view of the sea as well.
I paid a great price, but even if i'd spent £40 a night I wouldnt really moan, it was clean, it had character, was a great experience, i'll certaintly be back.

Fab 4 night stay.
Location was great. Big spacey rooms. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.
Only criticism is Windows need some attention but guessing listed building.

Very friendly and welcoming
Staff were friendly, creating a friendly atmosphere within the hotel. Breakfast room had a lovely view out to sea, and although all staff were friendly one young man, Lewis went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and included

Good Old fashioned stay and welcome
I liked the beautiful building and the character and ambience of days gone by with good old fashioned rooms and the freedom to come and go as we pleased without being harassed or interrogated
Car park was £6 - which we thought was a little expensive - since other hotels have a discounted ticket system

Tired old hotel, seriously in need of renovating. The lift is slower than a geriatric snail, the woodwork and walls all need repainting and the carpet is filthy. A double bed was small and uncomfortable but to be fair the room was clean and the shower hot.

Brilliant.
Perfect location and great staff. It’s being updated next year but we still loved the slightly lived in look. Get past that and you’ll be treated well and enjoy yourselves.

Problems with the room were quickly resolved. Staff were extremely attentive and very helpful. The food and service was excellent and the early Christmas dinner was a bonus especially as it could be the last for a dear friend
The hotel was a little tired in places, for example the lift and some of the decor in the rooms but this paled into insignificance given the wonderful service, excellent value and good food

Ok was only visiting a friend who lives there. Glad it was only 3 nights though
Breakfast , ok often items running low such as bread. Tea in a hot flask!! Didnt like having to jeep same table. Scrambled eggs only!! Not the best I've had buffet breakfast all do it yourself

Overall, ok, but I wish this hotel will go reconstruction soon.
Breakfast was tasty, room was clena, only shover room was cold. Generally it was ok.
