Grand old hotel right on the Eastbourne seafront. In need of a refurbishment, which seems to be underway on part of the building. Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast but rather tired looking old hotel. Lots of potential if it got a makeover though.

Big room. One of the sash windows wouldn’t stay open so we used the bin to prop it open. Just a net curtain (dirty) covered toilet window so had to keep light off at night. Bed was small double which is too small for us - we complained and they added a single bed ( not most romantic night!!!). Non existent security/ we found 3 lads walking round looking very suspicious- they ran off very quickly when they saw us. Staff were fantastic and very efficient. We did sleep well but shame about these little problems.

Breakfast, especially muesli fruit etc excellent. Cooked ok Sound insulation between rooms not great, and could do with some refurbishing.

The location was good, close to all amenities, however being at the front of the hotel was a bit noisy once the beach bars had closed, as it seemed to become a local hangout for about 30 teenagers! Just a shame there's nowhere for them to go?? The staff were all pleasant & accomadating! Noisy at night, we felt we couldn't go out once it got dark, which meant we missed out on a few things we were planning.
We felt Breakfast was too expensive, so we ended up going to local Wetherspoons for breakfast, maybe guests should've been offered a deal on breakfast??
The bathroom was very odd layout, with the toilet facing the wrong way, so bit cramped!
The desk in the room was full of tea making bits, which I would've liked to have used as a dressing table, as was where the mirror was situated.

Beds are small doubles. When i questioned it they said its just what comes with the room.
Also with our particular room the toilet seat lid was not attached and they had to wait to get parts and no other rooms were available even though they kept asking us to upgrade beforehand.

Average Bed comfortable enough. TV a good size. WiFi connectivity was good. Staff were friendly. Good location. Dirty in places, the window wouldn't stay open and due to the location of the room being at the far right back of the hotel we had a disappointing view.

Room was good. Breakfast was good. Certain Breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the room was clean, it was very tired and also public areas were tired and in need of renovation.

A pleasant stay in a nice, traditional, large hotel, in a great location, with some tired decor. Great location by the pier with sufficient parking at the back. Nice, comfortable room with a side-sea view. Nice breakfast, with a reasonable choice. Nice bar area and reasonable bar food menu. The packed lunches were also good and reasonably priced. No choice of eggs at breakfast (just scrambled, probably from powdered eggs) and the sausages used to be better quality. The kitchen closes at 8pm and you have to place bar food orders by 7.30pm, so coming from the tennis, we had to eat out a few times, whereas we would have eaten in if the kitchen closed a bit later.
The dining room is a bit tired and could do with a makeover.
I also think £800 for 4 nights is a bit pricey (even during the tennis week).

1 night getaway Exceptionally friendly staff with excellent location near the pier and the beach. Handy car parking.
Amazing value.
Good bathroom.
Good drinks prices for the area.
Only a couple of small things. Bedroom. floor was a bit creaky and felt uneven. Hotel could do with a bit of paint in places, but I do understand that a constant challenge in hotels of this age.

Lovely large room, very spacious & clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.
The hotel is going through a re-vamp, so some areas are tired.
Food was excellent & prices are very good, that includes drinks from the bar.
Entertainment was brilliant, we really enjoyed it!
Staff are lovely & friendly.
Unfortunately we given false information that meals & drinks could be charged to our room, which caused confusion. Probably lack of training or communication.
We would definitely return.

Yes it needs a little bit of TLC, but the service, staff, bedrooms, food and entertainment are incredible value for money

Our rooms on the 4th floor with sea views were clean, tidy and spacious

Breakfast is typical English fayre with a continental option too - good quality all round

Any issues we had during our stay were handled brilliantly by the staff and we came away incredibly impressed with this hotel

great location and breakfast the location was exellent. Right opposite the PIER.
Buffet breakfast was lovely
bar with a good choice of beers
Rooms need a real refurbishment ! Fitted carpet was dirty with lots of stains and single glazed windows nearly broken.
We found hair in the bath tub the first day we arrived. That was disgusting. we told the receptionist came up and removed it.

Cheap stay in a good location for a minimal price. Good breakfast, close to town, on the seafront, able to park outside overnight for free. Room a little basic, overlooking alley to rear. Fire alarm went off in the morning.
