Our first room was at the back, dark, grungy and the window backed onto the fire escape which blocked out most of the natural light... I actually felt depressed going back to this room. I don't believe it should be let out or if it is, it be made crystal clear what you're getting and should be considerably less than they were asking for it. Nothing like the photos of the rooms for when I booked. So I asked to change and was told it would be £15 to get a sea view room which was bright and airy in comparison but they didn't actually charge me for it which was decent of them. The sea view room was actually pretty good but still felt like the whole place is getting run down.
Overall the hotel is rundown and needs some TLC to bring it back up to feel worth the money.
The staff are very helpful but you can't help feel they are restricted by some of the management decisions. For example, they had a live singer in who's pretty good but the bigger, better stocked bar with more drinks options was closed. I was in the other bar and several customers asked for drinks that were only available in the bigger bar to be told they couldn't have them as it was shut. Not great commerce in my book.
The location is great, perfect even and thankfully they have parking but it is £6 a day extra...

Perfect location The first room I was in but like a box room, old and had an awful smell and the noise from the nearby bistro was atrocious, however, once I upgraded to a different room (which I paid for) it was stunning. The hotel is in great need of modernisation through a lot of it. The lifts look like they could be the original lifts installed and aren't really fit for purpose.
The restaurant staff cleared plates before you were finishing making you feel rushed.
Cleaners barged in my room without knocking on day one and once I had moved room didn't come in to replenish anything.
Food in bar was amazing but sadly not so good on set menu in evening in main restaurant.

Lovely comfortable bed and evening entertainment. Couldn't ask for more for the price Great location just across the road to the pier. Hotel a bit run down but good value for the money. Would stay there again but possibly upgrade to better room. Would have loved to have had a sea view but on a budget unfortunately

Comfy stay, Friendly staff, great location and dog friendly. Staff are all really friendly. Rooms are clean and good value for money. Hotel is right in the seafront and has its own parking. Some decor is tired, and the carpet in the halls needs a thorough clean, but you can’t really complain when you only pay £38 for a room.

Lovely weekend break in a great location with great views. Location is fantastic, we had a sea view room which had great views of the pier and sea. Staff were all very polite and friendly. Parking was handy right behind the hotel (you just pay at reception). Food in the bar was good and the entertainment was an unexpected bonus! It is a very old building and the doors on the room whilst closed and locked did not seem quite to fit in the frame. The floors in the room felt wonky and there was a lot of creaking when you walked about.

Overall staff very pleasant except for one! Spotlessly clean and staff obviously working very hard Room small but spotless…..view awful but we did not stay in the room……..staff for breakfast were very helpful……coffee could be much improved…….plenty of choice food wise abet a bit on cool side….but edible. The view was pretty awful….only one member of staff not very helpful on reception when I asked about a better room as we had booked well in advance and on the day prices had gone down quite a bit…....and I think it needs to be made clearer that you have to pay a car park fee .

Shabby, unclean but quiet. Great location. Bed was comfortable, wifi was very good, staff very friendly. Great seafront location. Overall very quiet especially considering it was bank Holiday monday. Room in desperate need of a deep clean (240). The inside of the toilet is almost black. High up furnishings in the room are thick with dust. TV remote filthy. I was there 2 nights and kept finding hair (all kinds!) that wasnt my own. I'm local to the area - a care worker who lives in a HMO. Occasionally i book a local single room to cover my day off & catch up on sleep. The room served that purpose but I've stayed in others that were far better.

Also, the curtains are too short for the window.

Good for the price great position The position, good breakfast and entertainment… good price and rooms value for money That you had to pay £6 for parking… the description said that there was limited parking but it was only mentioned after we had left the car, for the afternoon, that the hotel had a charge for this facility

I would stay there again only on the ground that the heating works or and provided with a heater, so I don’t freeze end Has a great all you can eat breakfast for £10 and the location is perfect staff seem to be friendly .. location is right near the seafront which is great it also has a Little market clothes, bags and great street food only a 3min walk to the pier. I stayed just so I could see what Eastbourne was like. And it’s quite nice didn’t get to explore the whole thing like I wanted to because I got really sick .. I stayed in room 229 The heating didn’t work and also the shower was blocked but that’s a small fix it happens … I didn’t know at the time that the heater wasn’t working I tried the switch on the wall and went to sleep and through the night it was just so cold like ice, I got really cold through the night, I kept tossing and turning. I woke up around 7am my throat was hurting, and 48 hours after I left the hotel I ended up in hospital with a severe chest infection just on one side by the heart.. I did inform a member of staff that the room had made me really I’ll and I asked if it was possible to stay a few hours more to try rest because I had a 2 1/2 hour Drive home. I don’t think they believe me cause on checking out I heard them talking about it but anyway I bet they will now .. I asked if I could stay a little bit longer to try and recover, the hotel offered a late check out for 1pm with an additional charge of £25 on top to stay a couple of hours more.. At that point I was feeling really I’ll not good at all I ended up sleeping in my car outside the hotel just to try and get my bearings so I could drive home .. but I just couldn’t drive till later .. but all in all it’s a lovely hotel. A little old-fashioned but has a great location, with a little market and seafront but the room just made me really ill and now I have to take medication and antibiotics because I have a severe chest infection but only in one lung.

This hotel is overlooks the lovely beach. The singer in the evening was so good most of our group of 30 who don't normally dance ended up on the dance floor.
Nicki at the reception was so welcoming and helpful.
The kitchen staff and waiters went out of their way to cater for our group which had vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets.
The rooms were clean and tidy.
The hotel is dated and deserves and upgrade and more lifts.
But overall thank you all for a wonderful stay.

Comfortable and affordable short stay. Breakfast was great and the sea view room was perfect, waking up to a view of the pier. The TV wouldn't connect to the wifi which meant that extras such as Netflix and iplayer were not available.
