Excellent value for money, stayed with my husband and 2 children in 2 inland rooms. The hotel is a beautiful old building which clearly is a money pit and needs loads doing but it has wonderful original features which is an interesting feature. Our room on 4th floor was spotlessly clear with new carpet and clean paintwork. Breakfast was very good selection and kept replenished all the time. Staff work so hard and couldn't do enough for you. If you wanted your room to be serviced you could but we just asked for new towels, loo rolls and coffee and was left to our own devices. Bar drinks very reasonably priced and good entertainment. Reception staff went our of there way to help out, on one occasion when needed plasters for blister. People will complain about silly little things but for the price we paid I thought we got amazing value after all.you don't live in your room . If you want perfection try the grand, it will cost you alot tho

It was a comfort and very reasonable priced stay. All the amenities were so close too. It was comfort and all the facilities were available. We had a great power shower. The en-suite bathroom was a bit cramped, especially the closeness of the toilet to the wall and toilet roll dispenser.

Enjoyed our stay, staff very attentive and helpful Breakfast fine, room in excellent position with great view. Unfortunately we had no access to fresh air in the room, windows permanently closed, so room very stuffy. Obviously the hotel needs a vast sum spent on it in regard to paintwork and general maintenance, understandably due to its age, but tidying up outside i.e. weeding and clearing up litter would help first impressions.

The hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Appointments are worn. Beds are acceptable. Bathrooms need to be replaced. No air conditioning, and no usable windows in our room. Filthy dirty alcove outside our (unusable) window. Breakfast good, clean, hot. Front desk personal just perfunctory. Unfriendly.

More then adequate for the money charged..... will surely stay here if I am in the vicinity. Was my second stay here and I was satisfied as I was in the past. Price is more than reasonable for the location and services. Room and premises in general were very clean. Breakfast more than sufficient and tasty. Staff is friendly and accommodating. nothing comes to mind

Grand old hotel right on the Eastbourne seafront. In need of a refurbishment, which seems to be underway on part of the building. Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast but rather tired looking old hotel. Lots of potential if it got a makeover though.

Big room. One of the sash windows wouldn’t stay open so we used the bin to prop it open. Just a net curtain (dirty) covered toilet window so had to keep light off at night. Bed was small double which is too small for us - we complained and they added a single bed ( not most romantic night!!!). Non existent security/ we found 3 lads walking round looking very suspicious- they ran off very quickly when they saw us. Staff were fantastic and very efficient. We did sleep well but shame about these little problems.

The location was good, close to all amenities, however being at the front of the hotel was a bit noisy once the beach bars had closed, as it seemed to become a local hangout for about 30 teenagers! Just a shame there's nowhere for them to go?? The staff were all pleasant & accomadating! Noisy at night, we felt we couldn't go out once it got dark, which meant we missed out on a few things we were planning.
We felt Breakfast was too expensive, so we ended up going to local Wetherspoons for breakfast, maybe guests should've been offered a deal on breakfast??
The bathroom was very odd layout, with the toilet facing the wrong way, so bit cramped!
The desk in the room was full of tea making bits, which I would've liked to have used as a dressing table, as was where the mirror was situated.

Beds are small doubles. When i questioned it they said its just what comes with the room.
Also with our particular room the toilet seat lid was not attached and they had to wait to get parts and no other rooms were available even though they kept asking us to upgrade beforehand.

Average Bed comfortable enough. TV a good size. WiFi connectivity was good. Staff were friendly. Good location. Dirty in places, the window wouldn't stay open and due to the location of the room being at the far right back of the hotel we had a disappointing view.
