Hotel is in a good location on the seafront close to the pier.
It's appearance on the outside looks tired and is in need of a refresh. Also inside, the carpets are in need of replacing. Room was a good size but the windows were filthy and single-glazed so it would be freezing in the winter and you could hear outside noise.

Spot on for the Airshow. The heating was on in the day, making the rooms very uncomfortable. The hole hotel is getting very tired and needs a make-over. But would stay again.

A bit run down but old charm The views of the sea and the pier were really impressive.
This hotel has definitely seen better days but it still retains the charm of those former days.
The breakfast choices left much to be desired so I ate out.

Old fashioned hotel experience. Good value for money and being situated opposite the pier, and close to bars and eateries was very nice. The bed wasn't very comfortable.
Fire alarm going in the middle of the night, had to congregate in the main road. Fire marshals did not communicate with us at all.
The fire brigade did not turn up, everyone returned inside because the alarm stopped. We found this all very strange.
Most likely a very selfish guest decided to smoke in their room.

Overall a great stay, bed was comfortable and stay value for money with great breakfast. Breakfast was great, close to seafront, pier and town, staff were so friendly Stair well carpets very grubby, only one lift that takes an age on checkout morning, bathroom a bit cramped.

100% totally enjoyable WE,LL BE BACK Breakfast was fabulous all the staff in the hotel were excellent very attentive and eager to help, very quick to check in and sort a parking slot. nice lounge areas to sit and chill out, brilliant bar very cosy and once again very friendly staff, The lifts to all floors were too small costrerphobic and were unusable for us we had to climb stairs to level 3 every time (suggestion would it not be possible to combine the 2 tiny lifts into 1 bigger lift) maybe gratuitous parking would be a bonus but not a deal breaker.

Overall, really enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay again in the near future! View, larger room, food,& staff. Shower did not fit in its holder & water pressure very poor.
Windows very poorly maintained.
No hooks to hang towels etc.

Love staying here It's such a lovely historic building. Big, spacious airy common areas and just a really nice relaxing atmosphere. The staff are all an example of excellence in customer service, they all have such a lovely manner with the guests. Perfect location at the pier.

Convenient location and great room/bathroom. Nice sea view. Lovely sea view and great to have a walk-in shower. Breakfast was fine but the scrambled eggs a little dry, but that is picky!

Nice hotel. Staff excellent and very friendly. We ate breakfast every morning - plenty of choice and also ate in the restaurant every night, as menu varied and price very reasonable!
Some parts of the hotel could do with upgrading - our walk in shower was definitely due a refit, but all very clean!
Enjoyed our stay in Eastbourne and would go back.

Rather disappointing The staff Our room 208 wasn't up to standard. We have visited your hotel a number of times and have enjoyed our stay but this time we was disappointed especially with the bathroom.

We had a small room but with a sea view. TV handset very old and dusty as was the telephone. Breakfast fine, plenty available. You could just book on the day which was good. Property is obviously old but would like it to continue as many other hotels have closed on Eastbourne front. Liked the position of the hotel. Transport links easy.

Such an old building with some areas in need of tlc but you can see improvements being made. Our room was a superior twin clearly recently renovated which was lovely apart from the dirty old windows. We can only assume to replace the windows on such a huge old victorian building would be a mammoth task and very expensive but cleaning the windows would be a simple and wonderful compromise. The rest of our experience was fine, it's not an expensive stay so didn't expect 5 star the breakfast choices were extensive and lovely with options of gluten free too which is rare so everything was more than adequate with really lovely and helpful staff. We would stay again.

Value for money hotel in a great location Although dated in some areas the hotel has decent rooms and everything was good and clean. This is a traditional hotel in many respects and as such the food is simple but pleasant. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

great seafront stay We asked for rooms to be close but due the rooms layout it wasn't possible- same floor but one was on the corner, we were in the middle above reception (near the lift which helped my husband, whom cannot walk very well) but the hotel lay out prevented neighbouring rooms, my brother had a corner sea view along the corridor so he was happy. Our rooms was spacious and clean. Staff were super from the receptionist, breakfast, bar & housekeeping they were all super polite & patient. When I return I would like the same room again. Only beef I had was no egg on the Gammon I ordered one evening - trivial but a must. We got into the hotel carpark an added blessing. Happy to return
