Stayed for a 4 night break at end of March. Although the weather was extremely chilly the hotel was warm at all times, not easy when the hotel is right on sea front. The Burlington is ideally situated for easy access to the sea front, buses, and the shopping centre is only a five minute walk away. We stayed in a standard room which was clean, tidy and quite roomy. The en-suite was dated and a little shabby but there was constant hot water and the shower was good. The restaurant served a good choice of food and all the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.
The entertainment was very good on every night but a special mention should be made of Ray Campbell who did an almost 2 hour spot - excellent. Shearings offer a good value for money holiday and we will certainly go again.

We have just come back from 3 nights at the Burlington in Eastbourne & have to say that for the money we paid,it was good value. The hotel is right on the front, almost across the road from the pier & 15 minute walk from the station. We stayed in a standard room which although in need of updating, was ok for us. Plenty of cupboard space & the bathroom was adaquate, There is never enough light in these rooms & the windows are showing signs of mould & need replacing with double glased units. The public rooms were cold most of the time, esp. the bar looking over the front, guests had to keep coats on in there, this needs to be addressed. Meals them selves were good & always hot with a decent choice & you can upgrade if you fancy something different.
Entertainment was on every night & geared to older guests & was actually very good, Mark the compare was on top form. All the staff were plesant & helpfull which made the holiday.
Sherings do good offers like this & we will definatly go with them again, only when the weather gets better!!

We have just got back from a Mon - Fri break with Shearings. Unfortunatly we got caught up in the snow on the way down. We had left the last service place at 3pm then every thing went wrong the snow was freezing as it came down and it was chaotic with traffic stood still every where. Tony the driver was great and got us their safely. The staff at the Burlington were fantastic to us as we arrived at 1-30 am tired and hungry. They had laid on a lovely buffet for us and they were all so friendly and welcoming even thought they must have been tired themselves. We had a lovely clean room with a sea view. The bed was really comfortable. Only thing was the creaky floor boards but as it is an old building, to be expected. Meals are very good especially the breakfasts, as we missed Mon entertainment can only comment on the 3 nights we saw. Tues was a comedian he was ok, Wed a girl singer who sang show tunes we enjoyed but did hear a few people say they hadnt liked her, then Thurs which was brilliant he was a comedian who hardly drew breath plus he played the keyboard which enabled the dancers to get up. Must also mention Mark the entertainment guy who kept the evenings flowing. Quite enjoy a game of Bingo ( didnt win) Great Hotel, loved our stay, Thank You all

Booked independently through late rooms.com for two night break with bed and breakfast.
The hotel is a little tired in places, but the hotel is exceptionally clean.
Our stay at this hotel was very nice!
The room we stayed in was very basic standard room, very clean, but in some need of re-decoration, and the windows desperately need maintaining,
The bed was fine and had a large bathroom and there was always plenty of hot water.
The room came with tea and coffee making items and the towels were changed every day.
There was a small television in the room and unfortunately the hotel does not have Wi Fi at the present time.
But overall it was a very pleasant stay very quiet in the room, no disturbance and we were on 4rd floor.
All the staff are all clearly hard working.
But I must point out “Ewa” our waitress, who served us our breakfasts on both days.
She always met us with a smile, and nothing was too much trouble for her,
It was clear she was a very hard worker and who took pride and fully enjoyed her job.
She is credit to the Hotel profession.

The food at breakfast was very good, a good variety of cereals and porridge followed by a full English.
There is parking at £5 per day, but there is plenty of on street parking.
Location almost opposite the pier on the front, fantastic views and plenty of shops just round the corner,

Just one minor complaint: Please can you remove the carpet tiles from the lifts and replace them with mirrors or something brighter, as it seems very claustrophobic and dark with them stuck to the walls

A very delightful place, thanks everyone, we enjoyed our stay and will return.

Well, better late than never! We organised a party of 48 from our local Church social club, St. Mary`s, Middleton, Leeds, to this hotel w/b 28th January 2013.

The holiday really started when the coach picked us up, nice trip down, very nice driver and arrived at the hotel in good time.

Can I say that if you`re looking for 5 star accommodation do not book this hotel, how-ever, if you want really REALLY good value for money this place is a must! All rooms were clean, tidy and well looked after. The food (apart from the rather thin tomato soup on the first evening) was first class. The entertainment, brilliant! excellent compere, with the best of the entertainment on the Thursday evening. Bingo. I DETEST it, but know that many many people like playing. They were well catered for every evening. All this plus 2 trips out AND 4 drinks vouchers per person every evening of our stay. I honestly don`t know how Shearings do it for £129-00 they charged per person, but I am glad they do!

All in all a HUGE "thank you" to ALL the Burlington staff including those who work "behind the scenes" Special thanks to the member of the bar staff who tried to juggle a glass (and failed!) He was a star in the making, and kept us entertained for the rest of the week!

Last comment to make, we have organised winter trips with Shearings now for many many years. This is the first one where we didn`t have one complaint about anything, and that`s a first!

Well done Shearings & well done Team Burlington, we all hope to be back in the near future.

We booked a very good value 3 night half board ' party weekend ' here from the 15 - 17th of February,we knew in advance that this hotel caters for coach parties so to find that the Hotel was full was no suprise.

Our room was small but adequate for our needs, however the shower was inoperable for some reason & we couldn't open the sash windows so the room was stuffy even in February, after asking for the window to be opened someone crudely managed to do this & damage the frame in the process.

The food was also adequate & for the price we paid, sufficient in terms of quality & quantity.
Every night there was some kind of live entertainment ranging from a magician to singers to bingo - which we won on our second evening !
The staff were friendly & helpful too.

Decided a few weeks ago to go on this short week end break.
Used our own car to go to the Interchange at Stretton, directed to a parking space(plenty of them) our cases were taken of us straight from the boot of our car, and we did not see them again until they were delivered to our room later in the day.

Coach, very comfortable left on time, drivers changed over at Warwick Services while we had a break. Tony, the driver for the weekend was informative and kept us up to date what was happening and when.
Arrived at Eastbourne about four thirty, easy check in, up to the room on the third floor, via the stairs, we had already been informed there were only two lifts and the hotel cannot get permission for more as it a Grade Two Listed Building.
Less than two minutes in the room and our cases arrived
Evening Meal there was a choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts, each of the nights different Menus. Coffee was served in a separated bar,

We enjoyed all of our meals including the breakfast, where there was a full choice of whatever sort of breakfast you preferred, Full English, or a choice off the breakfast menu, cereals, fruit, eggs however you wanted, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, No Excuse for going hungry.
Restaurant staff very efficient polite and well turned out, a pleasure to be served by them.WELL DONE

Saturday, off nice and early, 0915, coach was nearly full for the included excursion to Battle and Rye, very pleasant day with plenty of time to do what you wanted to do sightseeing, Tony had already given us a usefull commentry to each of the place we went so we had a good idea which way to head. The Church where Spike Milligan is buried in the Chuchyard is well worth the visit.

Sunday we did not go on the optional excursion, we made our own way to Brighton, bus stop about two hundred yards from the hotel, took about forty minutes, if you have a bus pass you may use these but if not, it is £6.50 return,
We visited Brighton Pavilion, the main reason for the trip to Brighton and we were both impressed, £8 each to get in, You are then given a mobile phone to walk round at your own pace and the commentry and pictures are on the phone, just punch in the number of the room and all the info you nedd comes up. Sadly the cafe was shut that day due to a change of supplier.

There was entertainment each night in the bar, which had a small dance floor, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
There is also plenty of room in the small bar and in the reception area.

Monday--- cases outside the bedroom doors for 0700. Breakfast 0745 until 0845 onto coach for journey home at 0915.
Two stops on the way home and back into Stretton just after 4 O'Clock, cases were soon off the coach back to our car and onwards home.

We paid £176.00 including parking for this well worh weekend break.

The Burlington Hotel was clean and tidy, rooms were looked after well by the staff.

A return trip we will be making in the Autumn.

A NICE PAT ON THE BACK TO ALL CONCERNED FOR A NICE WEEK END AWAY

Stayed at the Burlington hotel in room 350, on a 5 day holiday from National Holidays. The room was clean and tidy, the customer service desk was very helpful during the stay and the food was well served and presented. The menu was very varied so there was at least one dish each night that appealed too myself, all in all this is a great place to stay and was excellant value for money. I shall be going back to this hotel to see other sites in the areahich i didnt get to see on this occasion. Well Done Burlington staff.

we have just returned from a 5 day stay at the Burlington, it was a little ragged around the edges, but for what we paid great value, Kevin the driver was full of information about the area, and also told some wonderful little stories, we found the food very good as was the hard working staff at meal times,

Booked independently through late rooms.com. For three night break. We opted for bed and breakfast but did book dinner on our last evening. The hotel is a little tired in places, but the hotel is exceptionally clean. The staff are hard working and all were cheery. The position of the hotel was very good. On sea front, near to town centre and opposite pier. I agree with previous comments that the wind whistles off the seafront and in through the sash windows, but living in a Victorian house with sash windows we find this rather healthy, rather than having a stuffy overheated room. The breakfasts were good and dinner on our last night was hot, tasty and plentiful. There was evening entertainment but we were not there to see the first two nights but on Sunday, the magician and all round entertainer was very good. The only negative for us was a lack of WiFi - we are silver surfers and believe all hotels should offer free WiFi. Some people found the parking rather expensive at £5 per day, but there is plenty of on street parking. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

Just got back from eastbourne, a weekend break with shearings, always very good value,
Nice staff, adequate food, the only downside is they always play bingo at their hotels ,and if you don't want to play you have to sit silence as your afraid to talk,
Not the best entertainment, but ok.met a lovely couple from Wolverhampton who made our stay even better, will continue to use shearings as you get a great deal,

We knew what to expect when we visited the Burlington - lots of people (5 Coaches) and a slightly worn hotel - nothing wrong with that when you considered the price paid.We went in a bitterley cold few days in February - many hotels wern't even a quarter full. We prefered to stay somewhere with a little bit of life. Breakfasts were good, good choice and the standard was surprisingly high.We did not have evening meals there as they were so busy the couldn't fit us in - no problem dozens of places to eat.The bedroom was however not so good. Large room obviously refurbished not so long ago - but extremely cold, the bathroom was huge - no form of heating whatsoever. The wind whistled through the windows of the bathroom and the bedroom - no putty,ill-fitting and at the mercy of the bitterly cold wind.We asked for a heater and were given a small oil filled radiator - it made little impression.

I know the price is good but avoid the hotel in cold Winter months.

Yes we had a cheapie break at the seaside. Poor old hotel is showing its age and is cold in the Reception and Lounge areas. It was positively freezing in the bedrooms on the front. The wind was blowing a gale on Thursday but the windows are sash and don't fit well and ALL the guests were complaining about being cold. There is no heating at all in the bathrooms. There are only bath towels, not sheets which are very small and thin and we had blankets on the bed!!! The food was good though, the company fun and our waitress, Rebecca (daughter of the restaurant manager) was excellent. All the staff were good but the cold rooms put a bit of a damper on the break.

We have just returned from 5 days 4 nights at the Burlington Hotel. The hotel is situated opposite the pier in a very good location to the shopping centre..The hotel its self is like a number of Shearing hotels where parts need to be refurbished but at the end of the day for what we paid you get value for money. The food was adequate the hotel clean and staff hardworking and helpful. If you are self drive there is a multi storey car park nearby or the hotel has its own at the rear wwhich there is a charge. The entertainment is good each night and Mark works hard to ensure you have a good time. All told very enjoyable holiday.

My husband and I have just returned from 5 days in Eastbourne with National Holidays, the cost of the holiday was £99 which was good value as it included coach travel, dinner, bed and breakfast and two excursion. The hotel was situated on the sea front and was just a short walk to the shopping centre. The rooms were tired and old, every floor board creaked in the bedroom and the bathroom, I thought the people in the room above were going to come through the ceiling. The decor made the room look dirty, the ceiling looked as if it had a recent coat of paint. Traveling down in the coach took all day as, we left Bradford Interchange at 7-20 Monday morning and arrived at the hotel at 16-00, we picked up at Halifax then Huddersfield and Barnsley. We then went on to Woodhall Services where we all changed coaches one to Torquay, one to Newquay and ours to Eastbourne, that was 3 hours to just outside Sheffield!!!! And we did the same in reverse coming back!!! It just added hours onto the trip and I think National Holidays should get their act together and try and come up with something better than that. The driver of the coach was called Tony and he did a good job and was very pleasant.

Good value for money for a short break in winter. The food is of reasonable quality and the location is great. The hotel is very much in need of renovation in public areas apart from the front conservitory which has been renovated. Parking in the hotel Car Park can be difficult when the hotel is busy.

We had booked a 3 night week-end break but due to bad weather forcast, phoned and arrived the evening before. The reception staff were really helpfull and efficient.
The break was advertised as a party week-end and that's exactly what it was.The food and entertainment was really good, all staff were excellent, from the waitresses/waiters to bar staff all happy and eager to make it a very enjoyable stay. We all had a great time. For a budget weekend break you couldn't fault it, they even gave vouchers for 4 free drinks each.

If you want gourmet cuisine and sophisticated entertainment then this is not the place for you but we had a great time on an extremely cheap weekend break with friends. The bedrooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and look as if they have been recently refurbished. The bathroom was rather dated and unusually down a flight of steps from the bedroom.

The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.

The food is pretty dire and the front door of the hotel often blocked by smokers.

I would rather pay a little more and have a better standard of food but this would not stop me returning as apart of a group.

Travelled with Shearings by coach to Eastbourne on Sunday 30th December 2012. We were there for New Year Celebrations. We had a fantastic time the rooms were a little tierd but you only sleep in them. The food was excellant plenty of choice for all courses and the plates were hot. All the staff were good not one sour face among them all very happy to do anything you asked. We even had afternoon tea on two afternoons which weren't on the itinery tea or coffee, mince pies or shortbread and a couple of quizzes. The entertainment was good on all nights the best being on New Years Day it was one of the drifters he was very good sang all the classic's from the 60/70's. Would certainly go back for New Year. In Feburary we are going to Lake Como with Shearings will let you know how that was.
