A gem of a Hotel!
We love everything about the Afton but especially room 116 with the terrace and the bathroom with huge bath!

The outside appearance was very pleasing and the location, so near the pier and restaurants, was just right for my purposes.
The property felt a little jaded. It would benefit from some internal decoration and perhaps covers on some of the furniture to brighten the decor.

Very pleasant stay at the Afton Hotel
It was very handy to everywhere, especially the peir and the town. The staff were very nice and pleasant.
That you couldn't get food, but we knew that before we came.

The staff were helpful and friendly and the bar and lounges were welcoming. The location is great, right by the pier and a short walk to....everywhere! The room was clean and comfortable. We had opted for a family room and knew that these rooms overlooked the back (sea views are available for other size rooms if requested).....we just hadn't expected a bunk bed for the third bed, quite a challenge for three 65+ ladies but we, well one of us, conquered it!!!
There is no restaurant and therefore no breakfast offered. This didn't bother us as we prefer to eat a little later and try different places but just beware if you require B&B!
The room maybe needs a little updating and there was no light switch by the beds, so you have to get up and walk to the switch by the door to turn the lights out at night. But, as complaints go, that's only a very minor one! There are no hairdryers automatically provided in the room but I think they will give you one if you ask. Also, there is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lounge downstairs, which is quite unusual these days and easily resolved by the hotel for little expense I would think.

The location was perfect, we upgraded to a balcony room for an extra £15, a great decision, staff were friendly and the room was clean, down points:- there was no breakfast, but there are plenty of places that you can get elsewhere close by, strong smell of cannabis in the hallway, but that is due to guests not the hotel.
We will be returning to the hotel as we often visit Eastbourne.

The hotel room was clean,nice ,spacious and had the amenities i needed.The location is just perfect for walk around the town center. Located in front of the pier. Friendly staff. Affordable bar drinks. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was lovely me and my friend stayed there a couple of times lift to all floors a nice choice of breakfast we had dinner a couple of times staff very helpful definitely would go again twin room was very nice with the pier just across the road

I've no real complaints I'm glad I was on the first floor
It is well positioned for transport in the town centre and it it's more than a bed and breakfast but not quite a hotel. I appreciated the lift and while there was no restaurant or breakfast option it's not a problem because there are plenty of eating places a couple of minutes away. A surprise was the free wifi was only available in the lounge and while it was okay as a sole traveller I spend most evenings on the Internet in my room. Had I known it was only available in the lounge I might not have booked.
Like most places now the lighting in the internal corridor was on a detector beam and could have come on a little sooner and lasted a little longer.
The hot tap in the on the basin was loose but this didn't affect its operation. Being in the building industry I'm a bit picky but hot water was absolutely scalding. While the TV worked fine I got the feeling the remote control probably needed new batteries but that's about all
