I had my 2nd visit at the afton Hotel. Both times stayed in the same room which was large, lovely view and had a bath. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Yes room is a bit basic but has everything you need.

Just had four days there and great little two star hotel with good breakfasts and evening meals and very nice staff and comfortable beds and a 32 inch tv and a small shower but efficient and about eight minutes from town and all the bus stops and we went to Brighton from there.

Yes it is dated, not for fussy people but definitely for homely people. Reasonably priced and value for money. Breakfast superb, and served quickly, plenty of everything. I would say it's simple safe and secure

I run a womens hiking group. We were on a weekend Hike finishing at Eastbourne Pier Saturday evening and set off again from the Pier, Sunday morning. Location was very important to us, the Afton's proximity to the pier couldn't be faulted.
I like hotels on a sensible budget to make my Hikes as accessible as possible. Being a womens group, I was concerned about my ability to deliver their requirements on my budget. For them an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness was essential. I think we hit the jackpot, Adel was very approachable when booking the group. The guy on reception was friendly and helpful during our stay. We only stayed one night. We'd booked breakfast at the hotel, Adel called me personally to apologise and say that we would be having breakfast 4 mins up the road. I did wonder if it would be half hours walk , but it took us 3 mins to get there. It was a self service buffet breakfast, I had the works, sausage, egg, bacon, beans, mushroom, tomatoes, hash brown, toast, orange juice. Go up as many times as you want. They had cereals, museli and fruit which some of my group had
There were rolls hot from the oven, I stuffed them with cheese and salami. Top notch bacon, the largest yolk eggs were delicious. The hotel and the breakfast far exceeded my expectations, and I breathed a sigh of relief as I didn't hear one complaint from my group.
I was astounded at the beautiful view from my room 315.
A few niggles, the water in my room was a bit low on pressure. The curtains looked dated.
It was exceptional value for money, suited my needs perfectly. I would love to stay here again.

Room was clean. Ver good for a budget hotel. Breakfast is located in another hotel, and the bar was very limited in choice, with Carling was the only lager on sale. Staff were very helpful.

Joe was very helpful. Rami was good too. It would be great if there was a ramp for people with walkers.

Well located budget hotel Central location just a short walk to the pier.
Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Staff friendly and helpful.
The decor needs an upgrade/update. Communal areas in particular look a bit shabby.
No breakfast.

Staff were lovely and welcoming. Location was excellent - right opposite Eastbourne Pier and very close to brilliant local restaurants. I visited during a heatwave and was very hot, but not a lot you can do about that!

Pleasant and comfortable. I didn't have breakfasts.
It was quiet after 11pm.
I think thicker curtains would have kept more heat out and reduce the light pouring into the room at dawn.
There was considerable noise from doors swinging shut.

We had a pleasant stay at Afton Hotel. It's quite basic but very comfortable and the staff were friendly. We didn't try the breakfast, so not sure about that. The location is perfect in this beautiful beach side town. Right opposite the Pier and close to the shops in town, walk to beachy head.

Value for money basic accommodation in a central location. Central location. Staff seemed friendly. The TV worked. Not a lot of space in the (single) room. I left my towel in the shower as advised to have it replaced - but it was not. There was no shower gel in the dispenser, on my second day they left a little bottle. The room generally was in need of a lick of paint, new doors, tiling, etc.
