Basic British budget accommodation in a top location
Directly by the pier, you couldn't really ask for a better location than that enjoyed by the Afton. It's a basic hotel, which much as you'd imagine. And for the money we paid, we could hardly have reasonably expected more! I'd be back for sure if I needed to come to Eastbourne again.

Good place for a budget stay
The location was superb! Right next to the pier and an easy walk from the station. Multiple dining options nearby.
The housekeeping was below average and the amenities at the hotel were basically non-existent. No WiFi in rooms or anywhere else other than the lobby.

A feel of the past, loverly and enjoyable.
Nice location by the pier and is an old style traditional hotel with a large bar area and side rooms to unwind in. Room was a nice size and had high ceilings, bed was comfy and the water was hot in the bathroom. There is a nice little Greek restaurant around the corner doing excellent food. Hotel offered resident parking permit, so you have ten minutes to unload outside and then go park the car somewhere in the large zone H.
Just needed the balcony jet washing and exterior cleaning up a bit and it will be the best hotel in town.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic position. The staff were really helpful and friendly.
The bar area is great and we were allowed to bring in a takeout and eat in the bar area.
The only downside for us was the bed was uncomfortable and pillows were flat . On request we were given some more pillows though. The hotel could benefit from some updating but we will definitely be going back .

7/10 ain't bad
While the hotel is in an EXCELLENT location, there's construction across the street which interferes with the view, parking is ridiculous & the hotel itself could use a little updating(fresh paint, newer mattresses, clean the balconies) otherwise this hotel could be a real standout! I will consider staying here again if I go back...I don't think it's worth giving another shot

An average hotel but staff are 1st class food was brilliant and I would go back but I am disabled and shower was nearly as high as a bath to get in even though we asked for walk in shower
