I will return to this hotel. Stayed for 1 night 2nd time in the hotel. Staff vert helpful and made sure was ok. Would go back to stay in this hotel. Price we paid was ok. Balcony door did not close. Lots of outside noise. Not season for breakfast. Had to go out for breakfast. Overall hotel met my expectations.

Close proximity to the sea, beautiful view from the window. It's a bit noisy.
Apparently the neighbors were active :-)

A pleasant stay on Eastbourn Seafront We returned to the hotel on Eastbourne seafront, situated directly opposite the pier, after two years and were once again impressed by the overall experience. We both appreciate the hotel’s charm and particularly enjoy spending time playing pool in the bar.

The bed was comfortable and warm; however, the pillows could have been of better quality. This time, we did not have a balcony with a sea view. Those rooms feel noticeably more spacious compared to the one we stayed in on this occasion.

The shower pressure in this room was somewhat weak, though the temperature was excellent, allowing me to enjoy the extra hot shower I prefer.

Overall, our stay was very pleasant, but I will be opting for a room with a balcony and sea view for a more spacious experience next time

A Family Run Feel. The Afton is always my first choice of hotels in Eastbourne now. Over the years, I've stayed in most of them along the front, and The Afton is my favourite.
The location is very central, the rooms are always clean and comfortable. And the staff are always courteous and helpful.
Can't think of a single thing.

Comfortable room , great location , staff helpful and great view to seafront . Location wise very good , right in the centre of Eastbourne, clean room , good amenities . Heating could have been on in the room prior to our arrival so it was nice and toasty as it was winter and very cold .

A welcoming 3 star hotel in a handy location I was expecting a 3 star hotel on tbe seafront opposite the pier and that's what I got. It was a great location for walking the dog along the Marine Parade. I also loved the easy access to all the central shops, cafes and restaurants. The charity shops in Esstbourne are fabulous! The family that runs the hotel also couldn' t have been kinder and more accommodating. The are is not safe. Very run down, lots of homeless people, inebriated people and on substances on the streets. You see streetwalkers, drug deals and common asssults. I was not harassed apart from when I intervened to stop a man assaulting a woman. He then verbally harassed me, a couple of shopkeepers backed me up.

After a horrible experience at a nearby hotel, I popped into the Afton Hotel, located right next door to the said horrible hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness and professionalism of the gentleman and lady at the reception, who were extremely sympathetic to my situation and offered me one of their available twin rooms with a bath at a very reasonable rate.
Their compassion really turned my day around 🥺
The room itself, while a bit dated, was far more spacious than I expected and even had a sea view.
It was clean and comfortable, with a TV, tea-making facilities, and basic toiletries provided.
The lack of WiFi in the room was a minor downside, but it didn’t detract much from the overall experience.
One of the highlights of the hotel was the pub, which were always occupied by mature gents & ladies, and serves reasonably priced drinks—a refreshing pint of cider was just what I needed after the stress of the whole experience at the start of my Eastbourne trip.
If you’re looking for a friendly, comfortable place to stay in Eastbourne, I highly recommend the Afton Hotel.
It’s not the most modern hotel, but the exceptionally kind and warm hosts and cosy atmosphere more than make up for it.
