Leafy Greens and Gut Health

Our gut bacteria can protect the whole body from major health problems including cancers, inflammatory diseases, allergies and even obesity.

All beneficial gut bacteria will thrive with a diet of vegetables and quality proteins but will not survive when the diet is full of sugar and processed foods.

Cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, kale, cabbage, and bok choy are especially helpful to activate a specific type of immune cell which will protect the gut from toxic bacteria.

Many people do not realise the importance of eating a minimum of five portions of vegetables (and two pieces of fruit daily) so make it a priority to exceed this target every day.
