North Devon Hospice are a local charity providing specialist care and support to those with a life-threatening illness and to their loved ones, completely free of charge. They celebrate their 30th anniversary this year and it is with thanks to the local community that this milestone has been achieved.
Armed Forces Day will be on Saturday, 28 June 2014. It is an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to 'Show Your Support' for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from current serving troops, their families and from veterans to cadets.
A great event with challenging courses, the 100 mile cycle visiting both Exmoor and Dartmoor travels through some of the most scenic countryside in the British isles with great climbs and long sweeping descents. The 100 kilometre course offers the same challenges but in a smaller package, ideal for beginners and seasoned riders with support throughout. A really great day out!
An early start on Father's Day this year for any budding triathlete's out there in North Devon. Starting at 07.30 and running (pardon the pun!) until approximately 17.00, this well established event heralds a big turnout and raises much needed funds for North Devon.
Creative people from North Devon are being invited to submit designs to help make a community art installation in the shape of a shed to help raise money for charity. Trelawney Garden Leisure @ Ashford is asking customers to create eight inch by eight inch squares for an art piece that will be displayed during their Shed Week in July.
Does any adult actually need an excuse to relax with a glass of vino in the evening? Have you ever thought of swapping your Merlot or your Chardonnay for an English variety instead? This week could be your chance to appreciate the bouquets on offer from our own country!
North Devon has long benefited from its tourism industry and now (May, 2014) one garden centre in the county is going all out to attract holidaymakers of a different kind looking to fly in.
Car boot sales should be fun, interesting, social past times to be enjoyed (usually) during the weekends. As with all walks of life there are experts in the field and there are 'newbies' wishing to join the ranks of experts and it is not always easy to know where to start and the lay person rights and wrongs.
Braunton Village Fair is a jointly run event between The Rotary Club of Braunton and The Rotary Club of Braunton Caen, North Devon. The free event is held at the village Recreation Ground in Exeter Road and will be packed with fun and activities for all ages, together with stalls to browse.
Freedom Social Projects is a Christian response to the needs of the vulnerable and socially excluded in our community. With an unbiased ethos they welcome everyone who comes to the Freedom Day Centre regardless of religious background, age, gender, sexual orientation, criminal record, current or past addiction and ability level. If you can offer a few hours a week of your time then why not offer your support to a worthy cause?
