Clutter, whether it's discarded Christmas trees and packaging or year round hazards such as buggies, bikes, mattresses and potted plants, can block residents fire escape routes and hamper our firefighters when tackling the fire. They are often the cause of fires in the first place.

As Christmas is fast approaching, the retail sector will be getting ready for one of their busiest times of year. Some retailers will fill every available space with merchandise. This can mean that escape routes and fire exits that normally are empty, become a fire hazard area full of extra Christmas stock preventing a quick escape route if a fire were to happen.
The forecast for the next couple of days is for strong winds and heavy rain which may cause flooding in some areas. If you do encounter standing water, please follow this advice from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.
