Meta One vs Meta Verified: What’s Changing for Facebook and Instagram Business Users?

Just when you thought you'd got your head around Facebook and Instagram, Meta has introduced another change! This time it's Meta One, a new subscription offering additional tools and features for businesses.

If you've received a notification about Meta One, particularly if you're already paying for Meta Verified, you might be wondering whether you need another subscription and what it means for your business.

Here's what we know so far.

What's the Difference Between Meta Verified and Meta One?

Meta Verified has traditionally focused on account verification, security and support. Depending on your subscription, benefits can include the familiar blue verification badge, protection against impersonation and access to enhanced account support.

Meta One brings together some of those existing benefits with additional business and marketing features. Depending on the subscription level, these may include improved analytics, additional publishing tools, AI-powered customer support and new ways to share content.

Meta has indicated that it intends to bring existing Meta Verified benefits into Meta One, so the two services aren't entirely separate.

However, if you're already paying for Meta Verified, don't assume you need to purchase another subscription. Check what your current package includes and whether any changes are being made to it.

Will Facebook Start Charging Businesses to Share Links?

This is potentially the biggest concern for businesses that regularly use Facebook to promote their websites.

Meta has been testing restrictions on the number of posts containing external website links that certain business Pages can publish without a qualifying subscription.

Some reported allowances are as low as two external link posts per month, with higher subscription packages offering increased limits.

For businesses sharing blogs, special offers, events, booking links and website updates, that could become a significant issue.

Importantly, this is a limited test, not a confirmed restriction affecting every Facebook business Page. There is no need to panic or change your marketing strategy immediately.

What Should Small Businesses Do?

Our advice is to take a little time before making any decisions.

If you've received a Meta One notification, check your existing subscription and what the new packages actually offer. You may already have some of the benefits, and not every additional feature will be useful for your business.

It's also worth remembering that social media should be just one part of your marketing.

Your own website, regularly published blogs, customer reviews and other online marketing channels all help customers find your business without relying entirely on Facebook or Instagram.
