"Peter Trego claimed 50 championship wickets for the first time in his career in the final match of the season against Worcestershire at the County Ground, Taunton on Thursday. To mark this special achievement, the all rounder was presented with a bottle of champagne and a suitably numbered cricket ball by Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick on behalf of LV= who sponsor the County Championship. Trego said: “To be presented with a bottle of champagne and a ball with 50 on it to mark this achievement is probably something that I never thought was attainable.” “I have always been a 30 or 35 wickets in a championship season man, depending on how many overs I bowl, so to get 50 is great. I have shown the management and the captain that I can do it given the opportunities and hopefully they will continue.” “What I have learned this season is that it’s not about how great you are as a bowler, it’s about consistency, staying fit and determination and they are the attributes that I have, so I am going to stick at it.” The 31 year old from Weston super Mare has also scored 600 runs in four day cricket at an average of 33.33, with a top score of 91."
