Taunton garden centre receives trio of awards

Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre has been announced as a finalist today (October 2, 2013) for not one but three Somerset Business Awards.

The garden centre near Taunton is a finalist for Business of the Year (51+ employees), Family Business of the Year and Craft Advisor, Chloe Heilbronn, for Young Business Employee of the Year. Mike Lind, Managing Director of the award-winning, independent, family-run business at Monkton Heathfield, said: We are all absolutely thrilled to have been announced as finalists for three categories in the Somerset Business Awards.

This is all down to great team work and spirit. Weve got a tremendous team here at Monkton Elm and they are a real credit to the business. Eighteen-year-old Chloe Heilbronn, who is a Craft Advisor at the garden centres Craft Centre, is in the running to become the Somerset Business Awards Young Business Employee of the Year. Chloe, who lives in Taunton, said: Im delighted to be a finalist for the award. Working in the Craft Centre has been a great way for me to get hands-on experience in the industry.

Ive been able to develop my knowledge of crafts considerably and learn from expert crafters who run workshops at the centre. I really enjoy advising customers, getting to know the regulars and seeing their latest creations.The garden centre was awarded the Albert Goodman Family Business Award at the Somerset Business Awards in 2012.
