Sunday 23rd December Festival of Winter Walks2018
22nd December 2018

The December Festival of Winter Walks is inspired by the Ramblers organisation. The Ramblers take the view that regardless of age or level of ability there is a walk that is just right for you – and within walking distance for most of us.

There are fun themed Festival Walks planned in most areas of the Country. There will be leisurely strolls for those people who cannot face a long walk but would like to get out with company for a chat and an easy walk. For those who would like a longer walk there are plenty of options including the Health Walk.

Walks will take place across England, Scotland and Wales including Coastal Walks, Parkland Walks, and Open Country Walks, some are more challenging, others less so, and some will be on level ground. All walks are accompanied by experienced volunteer walkers to make sure people enjoy the walks in safety.

People who don’t wish to walk but would like to get involved with a group of like minded people the organisers will welcome you.

People and groups who wish to organise their own contribution to the Festival of Winter Walks are advised to go to the Ramblers website where there is a resource of 2750 walking routes in their online library.

Please, don’t be confused, this project includes 2018. There is a link on the website that will take you to the Library of Walks, there are easy to read maps and simple directions to help walkers follow the routes. In addition there will shortly be information for those who wish to get involved.

There are a number of reasons to join in with the Festival of Winter Walks, to prepare one’s body and mind for the Christmas season, to get ahead of the game with a New Years resolution to get fit and healthier, and to bring loved ones together for what is a fabulous way to start the festivities.

Why not? Bring your group or community together and walk for a charity? There are many Christmas appeals for funds to help people in need, why not support them whilst you have a lovely walk in our gorgeous countryside and Town and City locations?

Enjoy.

The Best of Taunton and Bridgwater.
