Personal Trainers: Tips for a healthier lifestyle

It's that time of year again when Christmas & Easter have now come and gone, which means that so has the chance to shamelessly indulge. Summer is slowly appearing on the horizon, as is the desire to get back into shape and feel confident to flaunt off your body this summer! The only problem many people face, is they don't know the best ways and aren't organised enough to keep up with structured exercises.

This time we’ve got your back. Here are 5 top tips to keep you feeling great and body confident:

  • Drink enough water!

This is one of the most important tips as many people tend to forget how essential it is to keep hydrated throughout the day. Most of the time our bodies are thirsty and need water but we mistake it for hunger and appetite, and therefore eat more than what we require. Also, by being hydrated you are reducing your chance of water retention which is known to make your body appear more puffy and swollen, as your body tries to store as much fluid as it can. Don't underestimate how drinking water can have huge benefits for all aspects of your health.

  • Lightly snack throughout the day

Snacking throughout the day can help to increase your metabolism as your body is then constantly working in order to digest. This may have weight-losing benefits if you snack on healthy treats. For example, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, or any whole and unprocessed foods.

  • Get enough sleep.

Just like the importance of drinking water, getting enough sleep is essential to feeling great and maintaining your health. There are so many body benefits from sleeping the right amount, but it also improves your mood, performance, energy and lowers stress.

  • Explore different types of exercise and get active!

The best way to exercise is to find those activities that you enjoy (I promise you will find some). As long as you can have fun staying active you will not see it as ‘exercise’ and all of the negative feelings that surround it. So why not explore by going to the gym and trying different classes/equipment? Or you can learn to do pilates or yoga from the internet in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Find what you enjoy and you are guaranteed to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

  • Choose healthier options and maybe try with a friend.

Sometimes just by making little choices to choose the healthier option is a huge start to leading a healthier life. Or why not decide to let a friend or family member support you by joining in your ‘healthier lifestyle’. Not only does this encourage you to stay motivated, but it is also nicer to know that you are not alone and you can enjoy the journey together.

However, if you feel the need for more motivation to help you live the lifestyle you desire, then hiring a Personal Trainer may be your answer. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable about health and fitness and can dedicate their time to help you achieve your goals.
