PEOPLE from Somerset are next month (July, 2012) invited to a free week of events taking place at a garden centre in the county.

Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Monkton Heathfield, between Taunton and Bridgwater, is hosting a free Summer Open Week for its visitors from July 2 until 8.

Norma Moore, General Manager of the award-winning, independent, family-run garden centre, said: “Everyone is welcome to our Summer Open Week and there will be complimentary expert advice and offers on plants and products throughout the week.

“During the event we will be launching our Roses Month and people will have the opportunity to win a trip to David Austin Roses® in September.

“The competition is being held throughout July and visitors can enter it for free in our Roses Department to win 15 pairs of tickets to David Austin Roses® near Wolverhampton.

“The tickets include breakfast at the garden centre, coach travel and entry.”

There will be late night shopping evenings on Wednesday, July 4 and Thursday, July 5 from 5pm until 8pm and visitors will be offered a pig roast for £1.

Norma added: “In addition to this our resident gardening experts will be available during the week to offer visitors lots of free advice.”

The Summer Open Week takes place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre from Monday, July 2 until Sunday, July 8 during normal garden centre opening hours. The late night shopping evenings will be on Wednesday, July 4 and Thursday, July 5 from 5pm until 8pm.

The garden centre is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It was launched in 1982 and is run by the Bellman family with the help of nearly 100 staff. Some have been with the business for more than 25 years.
