National Smile Month is primarily organised by the Oral Health Foundation with the aim of helping to improve the oral health of millions of people throughout the United Kingdom. During this month-long campaign special events will be organised in schools throughout the United Kingdom to help children to establish healthy oral habits.
National Smile Month aims to highlight three key messages that go a long way to help people to have a healthy mouth, and a vibrant smile!
The three recommendations are:
Brush your teeth last thing at night, plus once more during the day, using a fluoride toothpaste.
Reduce the quantity of sugary drinks, sweets and foods, this advice is relevant to adults and, especially, children.
Visit a Dentist regularly, dental inspections can identify anumber of conditions in the early stages of development and your dentist can look after your teeth for life.
National Smile Month is not just about educating people about the importance of having a healthy mouth, it is also about making the experience a fun one. By participating in National Smile Month we are helping to create a healthier world.Oral health, or lack of it, impacts on lives in many ways including our mental health and well being. This campaign is about emphasising the positives of getting healthy and about the true value of a smile to be proud of.
The National Smile Month campaign encourages Dental Health Professionals, Schools, Community Groups, Colleges and Workplaces and anyone who is interested in generating awareness of good oral health care to join in and spread the word, to Educate, Motivate, and Communicate Positive Oral Health messages and improve the quality of smiles throughout the Country and the World beyond.
