July 14th,Clovelly, North Devon.

The Clovelly Marine Festival is a day packed with activities and entertainments for visitors of all ages.

Features will be the 2nd Clovelly Cup Rally in conjunction with the North Devon Yacht Club,this is a wonderful opportunity for those of us with salt in our veins to watch the assembled yachts setting off to race across the bay.

The event is in aid of the Bideford and District Sea Cadets, a superb opportunity for interested youngsters to get to know what this exceptional organisation has to offer. Visitors will be able to tap a toe to live music, watch street entertainments, join in the activities and games.Plus, Mermaid storytelling, Captain Coconut, Punch and Judy, Shipwreck Survival, face painting. And, there will be a variety of stalls selling food (and drink) and event-themed arts and crafts.Free entry for under 16’s who come in maritime-themed fancy dress costumes. Standard admission charges include all entertainment.Definitely a date for your diary!

26th to 29th July,

WOMAD’s, World of Arts Music and Dance, UK home is in Charlton Park, Wiltshire, where every year, during the last weekend of July, you’ll discover a world without borders, a global fiesta of music, food, dance and art, and a place where everyone is welcome the first festival took place in 1982, since then they have taken the party to over 27 countries and held over 250 festivals.

Family Folk Week

Saturday 4 Aug 4pm to Friday 10 Aug 10am, 2018Halsway Manor, Halsway Lane, near Crowcombe

Ted and Pat Morse, Susan Peterman and the Stray Chords Ceilidh Band host this wonderful week for people of all ages! Enjoy a family break filled with fun folk activities. Either choose to stay in the manor or camp in the grounds and relax while their great staff do all the catering for you and your family. There’s a full programme of dancing and music making and fun activities each morning while afternoons are usually free for trips around this beautiful area including the West Somerset Railway, the seaside and Exmoor – or you could even pop-down to Sidmouth Folk Week for the day! There will be dancing each evening with song sessions in the bar.

24th to 26th August Bank Holiday w/e, Watchet Festival 

Returning for its 11th year the Watchet Festival is a family friendly music festival amid the fabulous West Somerset coastline countryside. There will be 3 stages and 60 plus live acts with many high calibre live musical acts that folks may not have experienced before. Well worth taking your tent and spending a few days.
