Taunton Town have scooped their second Team of the Month accolade for the 2013-14 season.

The Peacocks have been named Team of the Month for April in the Southern League South and West Division after a fantastic finish to the campaign, winning all seven Calor League fixtures during the month. Until the past season, the club had never won such a distinction since joining the Southern League in 2002 but can now lay claim to two awards in the past year after also being named as Team of the Month in November.

Manager Leigh Robinson said:” It's another feather in our cap to finish the season with. To get this award twice in one term is really good going as the club had never won such an award before this season.

Full credit to the players, as twice this year they have shown that they can go on long winning streaks, and the momentum gained in the league during April contributed to us winning the Somerset Premier Cup too.”

Chairman Kevin Sturmey commented:” I am delighted for Leigh and all the players and management team, as well as all the backroom staff, Directors and volunteers as it has been a very long journey over the last four years rebuilding the club.

Months like April and in fact the second half of the season has made all the hard work worthwhile as we continue to try and build a sustainable, progressive football club.”
