Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton is hosting pumpkin carving workshops from Saturday, October 27 until Wednesday, October 31. Norma Moore, General Manager at the independent, family-run garden centre, explained: “To celebrate Halloween, we are giving youngsters the chance to carve a pumpkin in our seasonal covered area. “Children can draw any design they like on their pumpkins and our staff will help them to carve it. We’re hoping to see lots of spooky faces. “Youngsters will be able to take their pumpkins home with them. The pumpkin carving will cost £2.99 per child.” The Pondside Café will be converted into a witches cave and will be offering hot and cold beverages, homemade sponges and sandwiches. Norma added: “We will also have a free fancy dress disco for children in our Jubilee building on Saturday, October 27. It will take place from 2pm until 4pm and we will be awarding a goody bag to the best dressed youngster. “There will also be non-alcoholic fruit punch and a cupcake available for 50 pence per child.” Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The award-winning garden centre was launched in 1982 and is run by the Bellman family with the help of nearly 100 staff. Some have been with the business for more than 25 years.
