It is one of the most nerve wracking times of your life but at the same time you can’t beat the great feeling of new found freedom and independence, once you’ve passed the test.
Choosing the right driving school for you is important. You need to feel relaxed with your instructor and your instructor needs to be able to put you at ease when the nerves kick in. Talk to your friends about who they would recommend and check out the customer reviews on the driving school website to get an idea of what to expect.
This is a really important question as you will be investing a lot of time and money in learning to drive and you want to ensure that your instructor is trustworthy. All driving instructors should be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and you can check to make sure that your instructor is listed. Not all Approved Driving Instructors (ADI’s) will be listed but most are, go to www.gov.uk/find-driving-schools-and-lessons to find out more.
Of course, many of us learn to drive later in life but the same advice applies; get a recommendation and check with the DVSA to make sure you get the best instruction.
