From Our First Day to a Growing Somerset Business – The Staggered Scaffolding Story

When we started Staggered Scaffolding on 3rd April 2023, we had a clear idea of the kind of company we wanted to build.

We wanted to provide safe, professional and reliable scaffolding, of course, but just as importantly, we wanted to build a business that people actually enjoyed dealing with.

Turn up when you say you will. Communicate with your customers. Do a good job. Charge fairly. And treat every property and building site with respect.

It sounds simple, but those values have been behind Staggered Scaffolding from day one.

Just over three years later, it's quite something for us to look back at where we started and see how far the business has come.

Growing One Job at a Time

Like most new businesses, we didn't start with everything we have today. We've grown steadily, building our reputation one project and one customer at a time.

Today we're working across Somerset and the surrounding areas, providing scaffolding for homeowners, builders, roofers, developers and commercial clients.

Our work can involve anything from scaffolding for a straightforward roof repair or home renovation through to extensions, new builds, commercial projects, temporary roof systems and more complicated access requirements.

As the jobs have grown, so has the business.

But one thing we never want to lose as Staggered Scaffolding gets bigger is the personal service that helped us get here in the first place.

Our Reputation Matters to Us

One of the things we're proudest of isn't simply how much the company has grown – it's what our customers say about us.

We're building a collection of 5-star reviews, and when we read them, the same words and themes keep appearing: professional, reliable, friendly, responsive, hardworking and good communication.

That's important to us because it's exactly what we set out to achieve.

One customer described Dale and the team as "hard working and conscientious", while another praised the team's friendly service and quick turnaround times. We've also had customers mention the little things – keeping them informed, dealing with difficult sites without fuss and going beyond what was expected.

We've been particularly pleased to see repeat customers and recommendations from other trades. When builders, roofers and other professionals trust us enough to use us again or recommend us to their own customers, that means a lot.

Safety Comes First

However quickly Staggered Scaffolding grows, there is one area where there can never be shortcuts: safety.

Scaffolding isn't simply tubes and boards. The structure we put up becomes somebody else's workplace, so it has to provide safe, stable and appropriate access for the job being carried out.

We're an SSIP-approved contractor, and we take our responsibilities seriously from the initial assessment and erection through to the eventual dismantling of the scaffold.

Every site is different, which is why we look at what the customer and the trades working on the project actually need rather than treating every job in exactly the same way.

Still the Same Staggered Scaffolding

A lot has changed since 3rd April 2023.

We've grown. We've taken on bigger projects. We've developed strong working relationships with other local trades and businesses, and more people across Somerset are getting to know the Staggered Scaffolding name.

We've even picked up thebestof Taunton & Bridgwater Gold Award, something we're very proud to have achieved as a relatively young business for continued customer satisfaction.  This isn’t an award you can buy either, it’s given totally on verified reviews from our customers.

But underneath all that growth, we're still building the same company we set out to create.

We want our customers to know that when they call Staggered Scaffolding, they'll get a professional job from a team that cares about doing things properly.
