At Jeff Hutchens Counselling & Hypnotherapy, we support you in transforming anger — from reactivity to insight, from harm to healing.

The Roots Below the Rage

Often, anger masks deeper layers:

  • Hurt, fear, betrayal, or shame

  • Unfulfilled emotional, relational, or physical needs

  • A sense of injustice or violation

  • Unresolved emotional wounds or past trauma

When left unchecked, mismanaged anger can damage mental health, strain relationships, and undermine your sense of self.

Healthier Ways to Work With Anger

Here are practical steps you can try:

  1. Pause & observe
Notice the heat rising. Name the emotion. Is it “anger” or is it layered with sadness, fear, or frustration?

  2. Use your breath
A few slow, intentional breaths help calm your nervous system and allow your thinking brain to catch up.

  3. Translate anger into needs or boundaries
Ask: What is this anger about? What do I need or want in this moment?

  4. Use “I” statements
Express your inner experience without blame.

“I feel frustrated when I’m interrupted, because it makes me believe I’m not being listened to.”

  5. Wait for calmer timing
If the moment is heated, pause. Return to it when you can speak from a grounded place.

  6. Channel the energy constructively

    • Physical movement: walk, jog, stretch

    • Creative expression: writing, art, music

    • Reflective journaling

  7. Reflect afterward
What triggered me? What calmed me? What might I do differently next time?

  8. Seek deeper support
Anger may be tied to deeper beliefs or wounds. Counselling, hypnotherapy, and approaches like Anger Release Therapy (A.R.T.) can help you heal at root levels.

How Jeff Hutchens’ Approach Helps

Jeff offers an integrative approach combining counselling, hypnotherapy, NLP techniques, and structured emotional release methods.

  • Anger Release Therapy (A.R.T.) & emotional cleansing to help you express and release blocked feelings

  • Subconscious-level work (via hypnotherapy) to address deeper conditioning

  • Focus on confidence, self‑esteem & identity, since anger often connects to inner narratives

  • Safe, compassionate space to feel heard, heal, and rewire emotional responses

When to Reach Out for Support

You may benefit from professional support if:

  • Anger feels uncontrollable or frequent

  • You hurt people or yourself, verbally or emotionally

  • You suppress anger until it erupts

  • You suspect trauma or deep emotional wounds contribute

  • Guilt, shame, anxiety, or regret often follow your anger

Working with a counsellor helps you unpack, heal, and build sustainable emotional resilience.
