Recycle Now is the national recycling campaign for England, supported and funded by Government, managed by WRAP and used locally by over 90% of English authorities. Recycle Now are here to help people to recycle more things, more often. More than six out of ten of us now describe ourselves as committed recyclers, compared to less than half when the campaign began in 2004.

The Waste and Resources Action Plan, WRAP, is a registered charity whose 5-year plan ‘Resource Revolution, Creating the Future’ sets out how businesses, organisations and consumers can become part of a resource revolution that will re-invent, re-think and re-define how we use materials, rather than plundering the earth’s natural resources reusing what we discard makes more sense.

Recycle Week campaign is in its 17th year, the aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness and understanding of the benefits of recycling where possible and give advice to homeowners.

Last year the UK community realised that recycling is part of solving our environmental problems, due to disturbing images in the media of plastic entering the oceans and our food chain, people recognised the need for change. Every person in the UK, and the wider world, can make a difference by our actions and recycling is a major way to make that difference.

This year's campaign theme:

‘Recycling. It's in our own hands' and the campaign will run from 23rd to 29th September.

2019 is the year of the environmental activist. We’ve seen this through protests and marches. From Greta Thunberg to Our Planet and Sir David Attenborough – environmental concerns have never been so front of mind for the nation. The Campaign organisers want to capitalise on this as it’s a golden opportunity for them to inspire and support citizens to act and make recycling the new norm.

Recycle Week 2019 will be full of action asking people to rinse, crush, squash, sort and separate. In the bathroom, the kitchen, the office and the great outdoors. Getting them to do something powerful and radical that will really make a difference.

Please, join in and help if you can, after all ‘It’s in our own hands!’

The Best of Taunton and Bridgwater supports Recycle Week.
