Sunday afternoon, didn't feel like cooking so we decided to go for a steak. I'd heard radio adverts for The Allerford Inn so we went there. A little tricky to find, very narrow roads, but most certainly worth it.
We had a sirloin steak each, mine rare and my partners well done, both cooked to perfection, served with a garlic and mushroom sauce which was devine.
The staff were very polite, efficient and friendly. Although the place was fairly empty when we got there, 5pm, we still felt comfortable.
If you want a good, perfectly cooked steak in a very friendly and welcoming inn, this is the place to be.
This was our first visit but certainly will be the first of many.

Visited for the first time for a meal after calling in for a drink previous weekend and was not disappointed. Service was very good and food wow what a lovely and superb meal we had, just great. Starter of shared platter was to die for and mains just wonderful. This pub has undergone major refurb and I must say it's fantastic as can be seen by the full tables. The outside area is going to be a winner. The old Allerford Inn is gone bring in the new and what a great new (except the flowers lol).

This is the second time we have visited in a few months and it's the only place in Taunton you can get a decent steak cooked just the way you like it! Great service great food a must visit xx

Went into the Allerford for a Sunday carvery with the family. Massive portions of well cooked meat, a good selection of veg, and two types of potatoes. Nice to see dauphinoise on the menu. All well cooked and tasty. Are returning soon for a party, cant wait.

Just back from the Allerford having gone for a quick drink but quickly (and easily) persuaded ourselves to grab something to eat.
I have reviewed before, some months ago, and this place just keeps getting better and better.
The menu is purposely not huge but it caters for all tastes and all the food is locally sourced and brilliant quality. You could choose anything and wouldn't be disappointed but the fish cakes, faggots, sausages and lamb & mint burger are absolute triumphs.
Very warm and welcoming, the beer is very well kept and all the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - in particular, Paul is an absolute treasure and asset to the pub.
They never fail to deliver so I would highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Was deeply impressed with this restaurant from the moment walked in to the moment left as well as everything in between- phenomenally good tailor made service, delicious dishes presented beautifully, very reasonable priced menu( wide choices) and gluten free requirements superbly met! Even the fact that families with children had a seperate area to just couples or adult groupings was so cool! Was recovering from a migraine so my husband asked if they minded turning the music down- the did this straight away. We were sat at the perfect table for us in a dimmed lighted area too- just perfect! Loved that they are so inclusive to disabled people's needs too! Will highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! Looking forward to returning here fairly soon, too! Thank You!

Delicious carvery, everything served piping hot, the meats were not only tender but full of flavour. The toblerone cheesecake is to die for! Friendly happy staff, nothing too much trouble.

I booked, requesting a slightly different buffet than those advertised. After my emailing our requirements I quickly received a reply and costing. The staff bent over backwards in ensuring everything was done to make the afternoon an enjoyable experience. I most certainly recommend, for a drink, meal or gathering everyone should put this venue nearest the top of their list. Excellent.👍👍👍

We had the carvery on a Sunday in February and it was truly delicious and filling. Fantastic food considering it was so cheap!

3 visits in 2 weeks and excellent service and food every time . Jackie and the team are very accommodating . The carvery is cooked to perfection ( especially the dauphinoise potatoes ) . If you like desserts then I thoroughly recommend the sticky toffee pudding ! Excellent value for money all round !

We have had several lunches and evening meals recently at The Allerford Inn the food is amazing and Jackie and the team are so friendly they make you feel so welcome. We booked a family table on Easter Sunday to celebrate my mothers 70th Birthday and sampled the carvery for the first time what can I say other than fabulous! We will be recommending all our family & friends and look forward to many more visits.

Just returned from an Easter Sunday carvery at the Allerford inn . It was faultless. The meat was extremely good quality and the vegetables were very well cooked. No soggy cauliflower or carrots! Great value for money and excellent friendly service.

We booked the Allerford Inn after looking online for pubs around Taunton. We are two groups of friends, one from Devon and one from Somerset who regularly meet at a half way point. We saw that the pub had excellent ratings on TripAdvisor so booked for five of us on Easter Saturday. We were warmly welcomed and shown our table. We were all very impressed by the room, the building and the atmosphere of the place. The staff were attentive and very patient as we were slow ordering due to the distractions of catching up with each other after a long time! The food was excellent, we all chose different things and there was lots of choice. We will be using the Allerford Inn regularly now for our meeting place and are looking forward to trying the Sunday carvery next time. Cannot recommend highly enough- fab!!

Nothing was too much trouble for the team at The Allerford Inn. Food was excellent with plenty of choice and lots of it! Paul on hand all evening to make sure everything ran smoothly. We had a band at our event and easy access was given to them. They commented it was one of the best venues they had played at.
Overall we all had a great time and we will definitely be back :0))

This is by far the best Sunday lunch in the area. Very affordable for the family, wide selection of beverages & a huge variety of vegetables & meat. Even the vegetarian option was enjoyable. Fast & friendly service.

Let's start with the food, All eight of us chose a carvery - in theory it should be hard to get a carvery wrong and yet so many pubs manage to. Not the case here, high quality meats and vegetables that have not been sat for ages and retained crunch and flavour. As for the deserts, the Toblerone cheesecake was different and full of taste.

The difference between the Allerford Inn and other competitors is actually simple - the food is very good but the service we experienced was some of the best I have seen in Somerset. The waiter at our table (I didn't catch his name) was brilliant. He was smiling, humorous and incredibly friendly. It really does make a difference and is the deciding factor why we will be back in the near future. I eat out all the time with work and get a good view as to what makes service good - the Allerford got this spot on.

I can't recommend the place highly enough, in summary it was good food, good value and great service.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. We went recently for my Aunts 50th Birthday. Despite a large party all our meals were delicious, served hot and with great presentation. Service was great and staff were very attentive. I would 100% recommend The Allerford, looking forward to going again so to try out the Sunday lunc!

Decided to go out for a meal with the family last minute, decided we would try the allerford inn after a friend recommended them, was the best decision we made, food was excellent and very reasonably priced, was served straight away and the staff were fabulous. Lovely place very open, the kids loved it! Will be going back again very soon.

Visited twice in Feb. First was a business lunch. Decent lunch menu. All was prompt and tasty, reasonably priced.
Second was a family birthday, 12 in total. The place was packed. Service was excellent at the table, bit slower at the bar due to the number of people and was to be expected. Food is well cooked, well priced and good honest fare. Not fancy, but excellent 'home cooking' without being disrespectful. Not a single complaint from us or anyone we could hear.
The pub itself is well decorated with a great atmosphere, clean and fresh.
Highly recommended.

We arrived on Valentine's day 2016 for my birthday lunch and from the moment we all walked in to the moment we left, it was a fabulous experience. From the bar staff, to the carvery, the selection of meats, quality and quantity of veg, very home made gorgeous puds, the best service from waiting staff I have seen in years, it is very difficult to find fault; I suppose someone did drop a glass and it did break on the floor. It was needless to say picked up really quickly and with no fuss.. As we left, we have already booked for a months time, having lived in Somerset for years, I can not beloive I have missed this fine place

Went there for valentines evening meal. Whilst I am aware that they weren't doing a special evening for valentines, the other customers were mostly couples, we were therefore quite disappointed when there were children running around the place and generally being very noisy. The food was really nice but the service wasn't as good as it could have been, firstly my partners pint took about half an hour to arrive, by which time he didn't really want it and secondly we were given the dessert menu and then when we went to order we were told that 3 of the dishes weren't available. Surely we should have been told this sooner? As a result we didn't have desserts, asked for the bill and left
