3 visits in 2 weeks and excellent service and food every time . Jackie and the team are very accommodating . The carvery is cooked to perfection ( especially the dauphinoise potatoes ) . If you like desserts then I thoroughly recommend the sticky toffee pudding ! Excellent value for money all round !

We have had several lunches and evening meals recently at The Allerford Inn the food is amazing and Jackie and the team are so friendly they make you feel so welcome. We booked a family table on Easter Sunday to celebrate my mothers 70th Birthday and sampled the carvery for the first time what can I say other than fabulous! We will be recommending all our family & friends and look forward to many more visits.

Just returned from an Easter Sunday carvery at the Allerford inn . It was faultless. The meat was extremely good quality and the vegetables were very well cooked. No soggy cauliflower or carrots! Great value for money and excellent friendly service.

We booked the Allerford Inn after looking online for pubs around Taunton. We are two groups of friends, one from Devon and one from Somerset who regularly meet at a half way point. We saw that the pub had excellent ratings on TripAdvisor so booked for five of us on Easter Saturday. We were warmly welcomed and shown our table. We were all very impressed by the room, the building and the atmosphere of the place. The staff were attentive and very patient as we were slow ordering due to the distractions of catching up with each other after a long time! The food was excellent, we all chose different things and there was lots of choice. We will be using the Allerford Inn regularly now for our meeting place and are looking forward to trying the Sunday carvery next time. Cannot recommend highly enough- fab!!

Nothing was too much trouble for the team at The Allerford Inn. Food was excellent with plenty of choice and lots of it! Paul on hand all evening to make sure everything ran smoothly. We had a band at our event and easy access was given to them. They commented it was one of the best venues they had played at.
Overall we all had a great time and we will definitely be back :0))

Called in for a meal and drink. Served without undue delay and pleased with both the food and drink. We had different dishes which were great.

This is by far the best Sunday lunch in the area. Very affordable for the family, wide selection of beverages & a huge variety of vegetables & meat. Even the vegetarian option was enjoyable. Fast & friendly service.

Let's start with the food, All eight of us chose a carvery - in theory it should be hard to get a carvery wrong and yet so many pubs manage to. Not the case here, high quality meats and vegetables that have not been sat for ages and retained crunch and flavour. As for the deserts, the Toblerone cheesecake was different and full of taste.

The difference between the Allerford Inn and other competitors is actually simple - the food is very good but the service we experienced was some of the best I have seen in Somerset. The waiter at our table (I didn't catch his name) was brilliant. He was smiling, humorous and incredibly friendly. It really does make a difference and is the deciding factor why we will be back in the near future. I eat out all the time with work and get a good view as to what makes service good - the Allerford got this spot on.

I can't recommend the place highly enough, in summary it was good food, good value and great service.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. We went recently for my Aunts 50th Birthday. Despite a large party all our meals were delicious, served hot and with great presentation. Service was great and staff were very attentive. I would 100% recommend The Allerford, looking forward to going again so to try out the Sunday lunc!

Decided to go out for a meal with the family last minute, decided we would try the allerford inn after a friend recommended them, was the best decision we made, food was excellent and very reasonably priced, was served straight away and the staff were fabulous. Lovely place very open, the kids loved it! Will be going back again very soon.

Visited twice in Feb. First was a business lunch. Decent lunch menu. All was prompt and tasty, reasonably priced.
Second was a family birthday, 12 in total. The place was packed. Service was excellent at the table, bit slower at the bar due to the number of people and was to be expected. Food is well cooked, well priced and good honest fare. Not fancy, but excellent 'home cooking' without being disrespectful. Not a single complaint from us or anyone we could hear.
The pub itself is well decorated with a great atmosphere, clean and fresh.
Highly recommended.

We arrived on Valentine's day 2016 for my birthday lunch and from the moment we all walked in to the moment we left, it was a fabulous experience. From the bar staff, to the carvery, the selection of meats, quality and quantity of veg, very home made gorgeous puds, the best service from waiting staff I have seen in years, it is very difficult to find fault; I suppose someone did drop a glass and it did break on the floor. It was needless to say picked up really quickly and with no fuss.. As we left, we have already booked for a months time, having lived in Somerset for years, I can not beloive I have missed this fine place

Went there for valentines evening meal. Whilst I am aware that they weren't doing a special evening for valentines, the other customers were mostly couples, we were therefore quite disappointed when there were children running around the place and generally being very noisy. The food was really nice but the service wasn't as good as it could have been, firstly my partners pint took about half an hour to arrive, by which time he didn't really want it and secondly we were given the dessert menu and then when we went to order we were told that 3 of the dishes weren't available. Surely we should have been told this sooner? As a result we didn't have desserts, asked for the bill and left

We visited The Allerford Inn having read reviews, with friends as a belated Christmas present for them. The menu choice was sufficiently varied for each of us. The spaghetti carbonara came with or without chicken - my husband said it was amazing - really tasty - he chose to have it with chicken. Our evening was wonderful, the food was great, the atmosphere was good even though there were few people in that night. The staff made you feel so welcome! The decor was lovely.

We had such a good evening - we chose to visit a week or so later for the carvery with family as a birthday treat. Again - we were far from disappointed. One of our party doesn't enjoy a carvery, so it was refreshing to have the option of selecting off the menu, whilst those that wanted a carvery could have one. Everyone said how much they enjoyed their meal. Really tasty, hot, nice choice of vegetables. The desserts were really tasty - the toblerone cheesecake was very popular!

Both visits were a hit with everyone who was with us, and all said we'd definitely go back again - if you'll have us of course!!

Congratulations to everyone at The Allerford Inn, Tom and Tim and the team make it a welcoming place to go - give it a try - you won't be disappointed!!

After a chequered past with closures through receivership and flooding, new hosts have reopened this restaurant first / pub second establishment in the last few months and it's well worth a trip off the beaten track. Had a nice evening meal here with friendly and attentive service. Food is good home cooked fare and prices are reasonable apart from wines ( cheapest £14.95! ). Although large, it has a cosy local feel and we look forward to trying the Sunday Carvery soon which friends say is the best in the area.

Been here a few fimes since it reopened, once for a carvery, which was good enough but not the best in the area, for example the roast potatoes were mushy, far too soft and I thought the meat was a bit on the stingy side.

Had a couple of evening meals too - I thought the food was average - they advertise an award winning chef, so I was expecting a bit of flair, but It was like basic home cooking if I'm honest.

For example my pie was laden with mixed herbs, from a jar (just buy some fresh ones and chop them in, people will taste the difference!) and was served an oval bowl, with a puff pastry lid - anyone that knows anything about cooking would know that this is lazy cooking.

My mother had the fish and chips and the fish was a brought in, supermarket looking piece of fish, rather than a freshly battered fish - now this is really lazy! Make a batter, fillet a fish and do it properly - especially if you are advertising award winning food!?

There was nothing wrong however with the general standard of the cooking - it was all hot, cooked through etc and we didn't have to wait for long, it just all felt a bit lazy.

Just OK. Tribute was a decent pint.

Have been here for an evening meal before. Thought we would try the carvery was not disappointed. It was hot and fresh, 3 selections of meat turkey, beef and pork with home made yorkies. My favourite dauphinoise potatoes and cauliflower cheese which makes for an extra special carvery. Staff are lovely and friendly a must place to visit. My partner had toblerone cheesecake homemade yum yum.

I have to say that the entire team is by far the friendliest I have met in many a Sunday lunch. No mention for one member of staff, they were all very pleasant & polite at all times. The carvery is superb & the food is of the highest quality. What a friendly place to visit. Disabled friendly too.

Used to known as the Victory several years ago, but had been closed for some time. Now open again and renovated to provide Various options from small groups to large functions. Quite quiet when we visited, friendly greeting after which one had to make an effort to attract attention to order. No real problem and again service friendly. Food was good and competitively priced (?) although did seem to take a long time, considering there were not many folk to serve. Should you contemplate having some cheese after your meal, be prepared for a plough mans lunch enough for two !!! Others found the puds to their liking :-)
No doubt on a busier day there would be more "atmosphere" .
Worth a try.

Having been to the Allerford several times since it's lovely renovation, I've always had a fantastic time. The food is great, especially the Sunday carvery. The staff are always lovely, and the events I have been to have always been incredibly well organised and great fun! The new owners have clearly put their heart and soul into making it work. I would highly recommend a visit!

Had a really lovely evening here with friends and family. Great food and even better service. Will definitely be making a trip back here soon - and if anyone's coming from Norton Fitzwarren, there's a nice walk across the fields, perfect for a sunday walk and roast.
