Beautifully refurbished. Food is always excellent, particularly the carvery which is DELICIOUS! Prices very reasonable. Not had a bad trip yet!

We visited The Allerford Inn having read reviews, with friends as a belated Christmas present for them. The menu choice was sufficiently varied for each of us. The spaghetti carbonara came with or without chicken - my husband said it was amazing - really tasty - he chose to have it with chicken. Our evening was wonderful, the food was great, the atmosphere was good even though there were few people in that night. The staff made you feel so welcome! The decor was lovely.

We had such a good evening - we chose to visit a week or so later for the carvery with family as a birthday treat. Again - we were far from disappointed. One of our party doesn't enjoy a carvery, so it was refreshing to have the option of selecting off the menu, whilst those that wanted a carvery could have one. Everyone said how much they enjoyed their meal. Really tasty, hot, nice choice of vegetables. The desserts were really tasty - the toblerone cheesecake was very popular!

Both visits were a hit with everyone who was with us, and all said we'd definitely go back again - if you'll have us of course!!

Congratulations to everyone at The Allerford Inn, Tom and Tim and the team make it a welcoming place to go - give it a try - you won't be disappointed!!

After a chequered past with closures through receivership and flooding, new hosts have reopened this restaurant first / pub second establishment in the last few months and it's well worth a trip off the beaten track. Had a nice evening meal here with friendly and attentive service. Food is good home cooked fare and prices are reasonable apart from wines ( cheapest £14.95! ). Although large, it has a cosy local feel and we look forward to trying the Sunday Carvery soon which friends say is the best in the area.

Been here a few fimes since it reopened, once for a carvery, which was good enough but not the best in the area, for example the roast potatoes were mushy, far too soft and I thought the meat was a bit on the stingy side.

Had a couple of evening meals too - I thought the food was average - they advertise an award winning chef, so I was expecting a bit of flair, but It was like basic home cooking if I'm honest.

For example my pie was laden with mixed herbs, from a jar (just buy some fresh ones and chop them in, people will taste the difference!) and was served an oval bowl, with a puff pastry lid - anyone that knows anything about cooking would know that this is lazy cooking.

My mother had the fish and chips and the fish was a brought in, supermarket looking piece of fish, rather than a freshly battered fish - now this is really lazy! Make a batter, fillet a fish and do it properly - especially if you are advertising award winning food!?

There was nothing wrong however with the general standard of the cooking - it was all hot, cooked through etc and we didn't have to wait for long, it just all felt a bit lazy.

Just OK. Tribute was a decent pint.

Have been here for an evening meal before. Thought we would try the carvery was not disappointed. It was hot and fresh, 3 selections of meat turkey, beef and pork with home made yorkies. My favourite dauphinoise potatoes and cauliflower cheese which makes for an extra special carvery. Staff are lovely and friendly a must place to visit. My partner had toblerone cheesecake homemade yum yum.

I have to say that the entire team is by far the friendliest I have met in many a Sunday lunch. No mention for one member of staff, they were all very pleasant & polite at all times. The carvery is superb & the food is of the highest quality. What a friendly place to visit. Disabled friendly too.

Used to known as the Victory several years ago, but had been closed for some time. Now open again and renovated to provide Various options from small groups to large functions. Quite quiet when we visited, friendly greeting after which one had to make an effort to attract attention to order. No real problem and again service friendly. Food was good and competitively priced (?) although did seem to take a long time, considering there were not many folk to serve. Should you contemplate having some cheese after your meal, be prepared for a plough mans lunch enough for two !!! Others found the puds to their liking :-)
No doubt on a busier day there would be more "atmosphere" .
Worth a try.

Having been to the Allerford several times since it's lovely renovation, I've always had a fantastic time. The food is great, especially the Sunday carvery. The staff are always lovely, and the events I have been to have always been incredibly well organised and great fun! The new owners have clearly put their heart and soul into making it work. I would highly recommend a visit!

Had a really lovely evening here with friends and family. Great food and even better service. Will definitely be making a trip back here soon - and if anyone's coming from Norton Fitzwarren, there's a nice walk across the fields, perfect for a sunday walk and roast.

Mid week lunch with friends today has been all the more enjoyable because the meal and the service were faultless. There's a wide choice, a generous amount, and it's all at pub/restaurant prices.. It looks smart as it's been recently refurbished, and it's spacious with lots of parking. Why wasn't it packed out? Perhaps people are too lazy to drive a little way out from Taunton or Wellington. It's worth the drive.

I have eaten at the Allerford on several occasions. I have always been very pleased with the quality of the food and the great service - nothing is too much effort. Tim and Tom are cheerful and polite, and in quieter times I have had some really interesting conversations with them. They, along with their staff, have made the Allerford Inn a really special place to visit. The prices are very reasonable too. I believe they have a 5 star food hygiene rating which is very difficult to achieve in this day and age, so customers can have confident in the quality of the food served, which uses local butchers and suppliers. All in all, a fantastic place to visit, I would thoroughly recommend it.

I was somewhat speculative about going for a meal with the other half so close to Christmas most places being booked up and unable to cope with demands of service but the Allerford and it's wonderful staff proved me wrong. As a walk in couple we were seated quickly, in a busy pub it must be said with only a few spare tables, throughout the evening the staff were curtious and quick. the food came out with out delay and can honestly say the best steak I've had in years was set before me. Bravo to the Allerford inn, my compliments to the chef and I very much look forward to going back again in the new year.

We decided to give the allerford inn a go for lunch today. Remembering this is only a couple of days before Christmas, when people are normally out celebrating with family and friends, the pub was virtually empty. Two of the company ordered a carvery which was ok. The other two ordered battered fish and chips. On receiving the fish we found it was the pre processed shaped fish, which I didn't know still existed. After finishing our meal I passed a comment to the waitress about the fish, saying I was expecting a proper piece of fish. The explanation I was given was that they were hoping to provide proper fish but as it was not that popular, they would not be doing so. I said if it's not that popular, surely it would be better to take it off the menu, instead of serving sub standard food. She said she would pass comments to the chef. On paying, I asked if she had passed the message to the chef. I told them I was very disappointed in their response, especially as there was no good will gesture on their part, a cup of coffee would have been good. I said it will be a long time before we visit this pub again, there are far better ones in the area

Great food and Great Beer! Always fond of this pub and the new owners are maintaining the excellent reputation. We had our works 'Christmas do' there and I have no complaints. For a busy night with 2 large parties, the service was brilliant and the carvery exceptional. Ii would highly recommend this pub and will certainly be returning in the future. Thank you one and all

A very good carvery. Carvery is not an easy meal to present the team at the Allerford Inn did it in spades. Three meats to choose any two from. A massive selection of veg from which to help yourself called for a good deal of self restraint. This followed a great starter and was in turn followed by a choice of puddings. PS. I did not do the five mile walk, I was just invited along for the lunch..

good food, good atmosphere and very helpful staff..... My family and I had a very enjoyable meal. The staff were friendly and helpful and we did not feel that we had to rush our meals to vacate the dining area for others waiting to be seated. Although this restaurant/ pub is a bit out of the way it is certainly well worth a visit and we will be visiting again in the future. Definitely recommend it to other family and friends. Very rural area but classy dining and good food. Lots of choice and good value for money. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the children had a lovely day.
The restaurant is bright and spacious and very accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble.

We love this pub. We were so happy when it reopened and has been done so beautifully. Now I love this pub even more because of the wonderful atmosphere you created for my surprise 40th party and the man of my dreams asking me to marry him. The spread you put on was amazing and the space to chat and to dance was just perfect. I would never hesitate to recommend this pub. Lovely walk on a summers evening with the dogs across the fields too. All the staff are friendly and helpful. With a lovely outdoor space for kids to run around on.
