Where's our cinema?

Sudbury has plenty of places to go if you're in the need of some down-time. Wanting some peace and quiet in the fresh air? The expanisve meadows have what you're after. Craving a nice meal and social gathering? The numerous restaurants in the town will definitley cater to your needs. But feel the need to check out Michael Bay's latest action flick or that new Disney film everybody is talking about? I'm afraid you're fresh out of luck.

Now, the want for a cinema isn't a new thing. I'm sure I'm not the only person who sees an empty space within town and prays for somewhere to hang out with some friends whilst watching some quality movies. Of course, Belle Vue park & the Mill Hotel are wonderful areas for families to spend time together, but what about when the weather doesn't feel like co-operating? Just imagine being able to pass-by two hours blissfully without having to travel all the way to Colchester or Bury St Edmunds? It's a prospect which I would wholly appreciate, and I know that I'm not alone.

Sudbury may be a small town, but it certainly isn't lacking in avid film-goers. Both OSA and Thomas Gainsborough School alone are packed with literally hundreds of people of all ages whom would love to have access to an Odeon or Cineworld, which would be beneficial to the local council aswell, considering the potential audience such a place could bring in.

Maybe it won't happen this year, maybe not even in the next few. But I hope that some day I'll be able to walk into town, sit in a comfy chair and excitedly anticipate as the curtains open and the lights dim.

That's the Sudbury I want to live in.

I'm a huge fan of films, and can be pretty opinionated on topics concerning cinema or my favourite movies.
