Comedy fans will have a chance to enjoy Rich Hall’s sharp wit, Lee Hurst’s energetic humour and Joel Sanders’ tales from life as an “Angry Boater”, fresh from his appearance on Channel 4’s Narrow Escapes.
If live music is more your style, internationally acclaimed pianist James Lisney returns to the Quay, while Gambian-born Sunto Susso makes his debut. Sunto is a master of the kora, a 22-string harp, and blends folk traditions with his own distinctive sound.
Drama lovers can look forward to Eastern Angles’ performance of John Godber’s Teechers, a lively play set in a secondary school, and Penned Up, a moving and funny story about prisoners discovering the power of theatre.
Families are also catered for this season. Adventures in Science from Crafty Fools promises an entertaining and educational show for October half term. Looking further ahead, Dame Dolly will be back with her one-person panto as 2026 approaches.
Film fans will notice an expanded cinema programme. Among the highlights is John Cleese Packs It In, a tour documentary about the comedy legend. The Quay will also screen a variety of other films in the coming months.
October brings the 2nd Annual Spooky Season, a month-long celebration of all things eerie. The line-up includes gothic drama, ghost stories, Halloween fun for children, a “creepy but funny” family show, and the ninth Horrorthon film festival. There will also be a special screening of Nosferatu with a brand-new live score.
The Quay Theatre’s autumn season offers something for everyone, from big laughs to thought-provoking drama, beautiful music and family entertainment. It is a great chance to support a much-loved local venue and enjoy top-quality performances right here in Sudbury.
