I caught up with director David Rudd at Steven Burton & Co, a team of Chartered Certified Accountants who pride themselves on making numbers simple for both businesses and individuals. Their approach is about linking your personal goals with your business, giving you the right data and advice to grow with confidence.
They offer everything from bookkeeping, payroll and tax advice to business growth coaching and succession planning. Using cloud-based systems like Xero and QuickBooks, they help clients stay on top of their accounts in real time. You can find their profile onthebestof Sudbury.

It was lovely to visit Zoe Howe, owner of Imarri on Market Hill. Imarri has been part of Sudbury’s shopping scene for the last 18 months, offering affordable fashion, jewellery and accessories. They stock brands you won’t find elsewhere in town, including B.Young, a Danish clothing brand, Eliza Gracious jewellery, and Stoneglow candles and diffusers.
They’ve also introduced a great perk for the town’s workforce. If you’re employed by a Sudbury business, you’ll get 10% off in store when you show proof of employment such as an ID badge, lanyard or uniform. A perfect excuse for a lunchtime browse!

Next stop wasMoore Green, where I met partner Luke Wiseman. Moore Green are the longest standing firm of chartered accountants in Sudbury, with a team of over 40 people. They provide tailored support for businesses and individuals, from tax advice to strategic business planning.
They’re also committed to developing local talent, taking on new apprentices every year and offering opportunities for people looking to build a career in accountancy. It’s great to see a Sudbury firm with such deep roots continuing to invest in the future.

I stopped at Pop Nouveau on Friars Street, which has been in Sudbury for six years. The gallery showcases one of the largest private collections of original cover artwork for albums, singles, posters and promotional items. Many of these artworks were discarded by record companies and never made it past the drawing board, so the gallery’s mission is to preserve this slice of music history.
Pop Nouveau has become a cultural gem in the town, linking Sudbury to the wider pop art movement and giving music fans a chance to connect with the artwork behind their favourite records.

On Station Road, Mandy’s Jewellery & Gifts has been a staple of Sudbury for over 10 years. Mandy is well known for the wide range of jewellery and gifts she stocks, as well as her creative workshops. From jewellery-making classes to fun drop-in sessions, there is always something hands-on to enjoy.
They’ve won multiple awards thanks to glowing customer reviews. Right now, the shop is all set for Halloween, with themed hats, face paints and £5 “make your own spider” jewellery sessions, a perfect way to brighten up a rainy autumn day.

Finally, I visited Holmes & Hill Solicitors, a long-standing law firm based in Sudbury. They provide expert legal advice across many areas, including property, family, business law and dispute resolution.
What sets them apart is their personal approach. The team take time to understand each client’s situation and offer clear, straightforward advice when it is needed most. Their mix of professional expertise and strong local presence makes them a trusted choice for individuals and businesses alike.
