The name’s in. LeeStock’s limited edition beer is called…

There’s something quite special about this one.

Earlier this month, thebestof Sudbury, along with Nethergate Brewery and LeeStock Music Festival launched a competition to name the brewed by Penny (under the watchful eye of Alex the brewer) to be sold exclusively at the late May Bank Holiday festival.

More than 80 entries came in, and  the standard was high.

But there could only be one winner.

The chosen name is Eddit.

It was submitted by Katy Keogh, along with friends, and it comes with a meaning that goes beyond just a clever name. It’s inspired by her late husband, Edd Keogh, co-founder and organiser of Leestock, and has a nod to football, likened to heading the ball into the net.

And if you know the story behind this year’s beer, you’ll understand why that matters.

This is not just any festival brew. It has been created in memory of Edd, who played a big part in shaping LeeStock over the years. He was also a close friend of Lee Dunford, in whose memory the festival was founded.

So when the winning name turned out to come from Katy, it felt right. And we knew that was the winning name.

There were lots of strong entries and plenty of creative ideas. But sometimes the decision is about more than that. This one just made sense.

The beer is a hoppy 4.5% light colour ale, packed with citrussy flavours from hops such Citra, Chinook and Mosiac, and itself is a limited edition. It has been brewed exclusively for LeeStock, and you will only be able to get it at the festival.

Which, if you needed another reason to go, might just be it.

LeeStock takes place in Long Melford on Saturday and Sunday May 23rd and 24th at Kentwell Hall and continues to support The Willow Foundation, while keeping Lee’s memory at the centre of it all. It really is one of those events that feels properly rooted in the community, for all the family.

If you have not got your tickets yet, you can find them at leestock.org. It will sell out and there won't be tickets available on the gate.

And when you’re there, make sure you try a pint of Eddit. There’s a story behind it.
