Local Suffolk Business Owner and Brewery create an exclusive beer for LeeStock Festival

Local business owner, Penny Wilby, owner of thebestof Sudbury, has brewed an exclusive beer for LeeStock Music Festival taking place at Kentwell Hall on 27th & 28th May

This year is the 10th year Penny has partnered up with a local brewery to brew a beer for charity. In 2013, together will the then Mill Green Brewery, Penny and the head brewer created “Lady’s Smock” raising over £2000 for charity and this is the sixth time Penny has brewed a LeeStock beer with Nethergate Brewery. The first two times were for golden beer, Golden Willow, which sold throughout the region, in 2019 they brewed Lee Stocked and 2022 Penny helped distil Nethergate’s exclusive Jubilee gin Mayfair Lady, to celebrate the Queen’s 70 year’s on the thrown.

This year’s beer is a light citrussy pale ale and will only be available at this year’s LeeStock festival and they are asking for people to name the beer to be in with a chance to win two weekend tickets to this year’s music weekend.

The 4% light-coloured ale, was created by Penny, under the supervision of Nethergate Head Brewer Ian Carson. It’s packed with American hops (Citra, Mosaic and  Lorel hops) giving it a citrusy, hoppy flavour. .

To find a suitable name for the beer, thebestof Sudbury is running a competition until the 19th May via social media, asking the local community for suggestions. The can enter clicking the link HERE

“I’m very excited about this year’s beer. Ian is an excellent brewer and knew exactly the type of beer I wanted brew. At 4% and light in colour, it’ll be the perfect beer to enjoy to celebrate the start of the Summer and at this year’s LeeStock. The Willow Foundation is a charity very close to my heart. My first brew, Lady’s Smock, was inspired by my friend who spent a wonderful day with her young family, thanks to the generosity of the Willow Foundation. And LeeStock is such an awesome local festival. Not only does it bring the local community together, but they raised over £100000 for Willow. I’m really looking forward to having a pint and enjoying the performances”

LeeStock takes place Saturday and Sunday 26 and 27th May at Kentwell Hall, is featuring headliners Natalie Imbruglia, Black Grape, T’Pau and Katrina and The Waves.
