Penny says,“The Willow Foundation is a fantastic charity, one close to my heart and LeeStock is a wonderful festival I’m proud to support. Brewing a charity beer with one of the best local breweries, I felt would be a wonderful way to raise the profile of the festival and raise funds for The Willow Foundation”
As well as brewing the beer, Nethergate donated £1,000 from the beer that was sold. General Manager, Rob Crawford says “It’s great to put something back into our local community especially for such a worthy cause”
The beer’s name, Golden Willow, was chosen after a competition was held to asking for a name. There were over 130 entries, with suggestions ranging from Beery McBeerFace to Dunford’s Decade. LeeStock, Nethergate and thebestof Sudbury decided on Golden Willow as it was felt to be most appropriate for the festival, beer and charity!
Golden Willow, a hoppy golden ale, was onsale throughout pubs in the area and at LeeStock. The beer was officially launched at The Waggon and Horses, in Sudbury, with music from The Toots and a raffle that raised over £100. Prizes donated included LeeStock tickets, a day for two at Stoke by Nayland Spa, photography session and beer
Nethergate and thebestof Sudbury are planning on brewing another beer for LeeStock 2017
