Have You Heard of Our Little Rising Star?

We always look to the young for new and exciting ideas that will freshen up our culture and way of life. They are the shining hope that will clean up the mistakes made by the current generation, whether that be politics, sports or art – The next generation will also look to bring something great to the table.

And when we see children excelling in their chosen field, it brings warmth to our heart that nothing could really match. The latest prodigy to make Salford proud is nine-year-old Dylan Perfect, a pupil from Elllenbrook Primary School in Worsley. This budding artist has recently won The Copley Prize, which is The Lowry’s new art prize for creative youngsters.

Dylan’s piece of work was greatly inspired by the art of LS Lowry himself and now due to it’s success, he may have the chance to exhibit his work next to one of Salford’s most talented men! The Copley Prize is an annual competition that is yet another example of The Lowry’s close connection to local schools.

I hope you will join me in congratulating this extremely talented young man for what he has achieved at such a young age. Well done Dylan Perfect!
