Development of Middlewood Locks Site

In February of this year, the Scarborough Development group acquired the Middlewood Locks site in the Salford area, previously owned by Valley and Vale properties. Despite having planning consent, developers have empathetically held off until they decide what will best benefit Salford by being built on the land. There have been various ideas for the site, but timing has never quite been right, and so the Scarborough group are currently looking at suitable options for development.

With recent regenerations in Salford bringing great advantages to the city, developers will know that the right build can only bring further benefits. The Scarborough group have held several events this month which have enabled local people, community groups and businesses to have their say on what should be done with the Middlewood Locks site. This seems to be a fair and productive approach, and such meetings have hopefully given the developers an insight into what will most benefit Salford, as well as what will be useful for local citizens.

It is always nice to see development groups trying to involve the community as much as possible in their decisions, consulting local people and businesses, and with any luck this should be something we’re seeing more and more in future!

For more information or to send in your ideas on what the site could be used for please contact Joanna Bishop at Paver Smith on 0151 239 5000 or email bishop@consultationworks.co.uk
