La facciata avrebbe bisogno di una ripulita ma il complesso è di notevole bellezza.

Visited the Cathedral over the Christmas period. No charge for entrance but we always donate. There is a very spectacular piece of art , 20,000 paper doves hanging in the air produced by 75 schools in the area. Also a Christmas tree exhibition if you purchase a token for £1 you are able to vote for your chosen tree.Well worth a visit over the Christmas festivities.

A wonderful Cathedral to spend time in and enjoy it's architecture and stained glass windows. They currently have an art installation of thousands of white paper doves cut out by local school children and hung above the central aisle. The main part of the cathedral is accessible to those in wheelchairs. The cathedral is free to enter , you will find donation boxes placed around the cathedral for donations which are appreciated because the day to day running costs are astronomical.

The stone heads part way up the walls are remarkably individual, and mostly in excellent condition. The exception is those at the East end, where I understand they suffered from Cromwell's soldiers using them to sharpen their swords during the Civil War

I am averse to all/any religion on a personal basis, but appreciation of this outstanding piece of architecture requires no beliefs/cults/affiliations. It is not only impressive, it is extremely well kept and maintained, and I was also very encouraged to see that this beautiful building was being used on a regular basis by many different types of community groups for many different kinds of activities. This soothed my soul and my need to see this type of building serving the people as opposed to the people serving the building.

Really lucky to have such a place in Lichfield, a truly beautiful cathedral, inside and out. If you're only in the area for a short time then do go and visit. If you live here then it's a place that you definitely should have been to.

Setting up for concert at front, stage & lightning being done on out visit.

Back of the cathedral has a display of poems by Wilfred Owen & drawings by Denis May depicting the poems.

Building is beautiful to admire inside & outside.

Kids area to left hand side turning in a small room, it is set up with chairs, books, colouring things.

The smaller upper chapel on the right hand side was open, had to climb about 20 steps up to it, nice view overlooking the aisle below.

Stain glass windows are lovely.

St Chads shrine towards front of church.

On left hand side some old faces found below the cathedral which were part of the previous old church that was used as building rubble in the current church.

A great place to visit & admire.

Small gift shop to front of Cathedral.

Me and my girlfriend attended the Poppy fields display and we both thought it was amazing.

The entrance was efficiently organised and the display itself was beautiful and somber remembering the people who didn't come back from the carnage of war.

I would recommend any one to come here and the display was made more better as it was held in a beautiful setting

Well worth a visit if in the area, this is one of the nicest gothic cathedrals in England. Statuary on the exterior is amazing. It's located within the "close" which is historically preserved. Also, inside they have a scuplture of an angel that is 1400 years old.

Visited Lichfield as part of a coach tour, really glad we had time to visit the cathedral, a beautiful building in a beautiful setting but really needs more time than my wife and I had to do it justice. It was lovely however to light a candle and just sit taking in the peace for a short while. Thanks to everyone for enabling this to happen.

This was the second time we have been to the cathedral for a light show and this one was excellent.
It was thought provoking as well as informative and did proud service to those whose lives were lost in the first world war.

My self and my husband booked tickets costing just £4 to go to the poppy fields . I must say we arrived early and the cues where massive. One of the wardens told us we would be better having a walk round and coming back a bit later as they where only lining up for a certain time ie 7 o'clock our time was 8 o'clock.
When we came back we got into the line which was moving very slowly. But once inside it was amazing such a brilliant display. Very emotional . There was also 8 Victoria crosses on show with the solders stories to go with them. It really made me more grateful for what these young men went through to give us the lives we have today.
Would reall recommend a visit well worth the money and the wait .

We visited the cathedral on Friday evening to see the Poppy fields in remembrance with WW1. It was very effective and done so respectfully, it was lovely to see people of all ages taken aback by the powerful impact the projections had.
It was well organised and the volunteers were all very knowledgeable about what different parts of the event were about. The Eddie Redmayne reading was a nice touch.
We particularly enjoyed the interactive element with the opportunity to write a message on a leaf and place it near the statue of the unknown soldier.
I was so impressed with the event I am looking into booking the similar Christmas event.

I have reviewed this Cathedral previously and undoubtedly it must be the number one attraction in Lichfield whether you are religious or not.
I visited with friends to see the Son et Lumiere poppy display in which images of millions of Poppies are projected in a slowly moving display from a projector mounted high above the Great West Door. The result is spectacular and is meant to be representative of the poppy fields of Flanders after the end of the First World War.
Appropriate music is played continuously through a sound system, but it appeared to be a single piece on a loop. Although the music was excellent, It would have been even better if the music was varied with some more recognisable hymns being played.
The congestion at the entrance to the cathedral was not pleasant. It took us almost an hour having joined the back of queue outside, to reach the entrance and then into the nave of the cathedral via a tortuous route once inside. A sheep pen springs to mind for comparison.
It was wonderful once clear of this congestion and credit is due to the volunteer wardens who made our visit even more enjoyable with their kindness and assistance when asked.
It is absolutely right that we pay homage to those who fought and died for our freedom and the display inside Lichfield Cathedral is a beautiful, poignant and apposite reminder to us to gives thanks for the freedom that we now enjoy due to the sacrifice of the fallen and all of those took part in that dreadful War..
Despite my adverse earlier comments we all had a wonderful evening and one filled with poignant memories.
Well done all at St Chads!
