Just wow. What a simply incredible building, and lovely place of worship to boot. I was quite simply stunned by the exterior of the building, and inside was also a fascinating place to visit. While entrance is free, donations are encouraged and well deserved to help in the upkeep of this crucial piece of heritage. It also lies only a short walk from the centre of this bustling, vibrant and enchanting market town and is pretty much a ‘must see’ if you are in the area. We ended up here rather randomly, and now realise we need to return to pay the cathedral and town a more leisurely visit. Staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful, and if you want to take a deeper dive into the history, legacy and importance of the building and its people, then they’re only too happy to provide more guidance. There’s also trips up the bell tower – but you really need to book ahead for these (I’ll be doing that next time!)
