Beautiful display of poppies superimposed onto the inside walls and floor of the cathedral. Well worth a visit but there were some issues however that dampened our visit.
We arrived outside the cathedral which was not lit at all, apart from one of the small arches. Due to the health and safety aspect ( I know - I hate mentioning it but! ) because there was no lighting apart from the occasional house light and torches held by stewards, this was dangerous with uneven footpaths. The majority of visitors were of a certain age where this should have been dealt with.
We were expecting to see the outside of the cathedral lit in all its glory for such an event.

Maybe it’s a local residents remit not to have any lighting when there is an evening event at the cathedral which is sad for such a special charity remembering our war dead.

Sorry about the negatives but the visual effects were fab and the staff were great.

Magnificent building.Enjoyed looking round although it was a little spoiled as when we went to visit, there was extensive work going on inside.Scaffolding had been erected and workmen were banging and drilling.
Lichfield is a nice quaint town to visit and very clean

As the cathedral is the only medieval cathedral in England with three spires it really stands out in the city .

Well worth a visit if you are historically minded as jt contains lots of interesting features originally dating back to the 12th century although there have been many changes since then

Lots of interesting features, statues, carvings etc, and the organ is well worth a look.

Has gift shop and eating facilities inside and is free to enter but they do appreciate donations for helping with the upkeep.

Really need over an hour to see and take in all the features but is certainly worth the time

Went for afternoon stroll around lichfield and my wife and I found ourselves looking for somewhere for tea and coffee and five minutes chilling from shopping. "Green room" lichfield garrick. What a little gem. Nice and calm relaxing atmosphere, listening to musical tracks from theatre shows and tea coffee and cakes at a very reasonable price too. Staff where very polite and cakes were lovely. Will use it again this coming Christmas for after shopping and of course not to mention our lovely local theatre. Well done the garrick.

Nice cathedral with free entrance. We did a tour up to the top of the spire. This was a guided tour which allowed us to see over Lichfield and the surrounding area as it was a beautiful day. The guides were very knowledgeable.
We would certainly recommend doing the spire tour when visiting the Cathedral.
Not for the less mobile as access is only via steep windy stairs.

Just beautiful. You can wander in during most times of the day, there's plenty to see inside, or you can just sit for some quiet thinking time. Lots of activities happen throughout the year (check the website for details)- the Luxmuralis light shows are particularly good, (based inside and outside the cathedral) although they get too crowded, which can make it difficult to see all the areas of interest. If you're visiting Lichfield, you should definitely visit this beautiful Cathedral.

If you like the fact that lichfield is the uk's smallest city then vist the cathedral amongst the vastness of it being a monumental building look to the skies while wondering around the hall the architecture is a fantastic bit of engineering to think this is entirely built by hand is at best breath taking..
Amongst the wings is a wing dedicated to the staffordshire regiment and previous battle honours and queens colours adorn the rafters... look for the tribute to the zulu campaign made famous by micheal caine... there you can be amazed at the bond between the place of worship and that of the local regiments... the birthplace of the staffordshire regt can be found a stone throws away at the kings head a plaque outside on the wall will tell you all.

I'm not really all that in to cathedrals, but this one is gorgeous inside. I cannot comprehend the construction of such a massive structure centuries ago without the benefit of machinery. The soaring ceiling is breathtaking, and there are many nooks and crannies to explore.
