Each year, the Round Table help Santa and his sleigh around the streets of Hitchin and this year is no different. All monies raised will go to sourcing food parcels for local people who need a bit of extra help at this time of year. If you want to see where Santa and his Sleigh will be please read on.
Christmas is the peak time for woolly fashion statements and this year we're asking people to donate any spare wool to the Time Bank Knit and Natter Group, which is formed of a group of partially sighted women who knit everything from teddies to gloves & scarves to raise funds for charities. Drop your spare wool off at the Hitchin Town Centre Initiative shop, based at 27 Churchyard, from Monday to Saturday between 9.30 - 13.30.
On Monday 10th December more than 100 Hitchin based LV= staff braved the bitter cold and snow (from a snow machine!) dressed as eLV=s to raise money for Garden House Hospice.
Thursday 29 Movember 2012 - 1pm to 9pm, Churchyard Tattoo Studio. Celebrating Movember and raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Hitchin-based, Dr Hadwen Trust (DHT) is searching for its 2012 Volunteer or Fundraiser of the Year. The DHT is looking for people who go above and beyond the call of duty in raising funds for the DHT or who simply take every opportunity to tell people about its work.
Hitchin based Crossroads Care needs your votes to win up to £15,000 for the charity. Project co-ordinator Isabel Bauckham has been shortlisted for a TalkTalk Digital Hero Award for her work on Getting Carers Connected.
On Saturday 22nd September, Hitchin welcomes a celebrity event, exclusively for women, from international children’s charity World Vision UK. The aptly-named ‘Girls’ Night Out’ is fronted by vocal coach to the stars Carrie Grant, who shot to fame on TV talent show Pop Idol and is a regular presenter on The One Show. Girls’ Night Out also features a stand-up set from female comic Jo Enright, who appeared in the recent Ricky Gervais sit-com Life’s Too Short
You've no doubt heard of Rotary but do you know who they are and what they do? Well I became a rotarian a few months back and here is my view of what I had previously thought was a 'secret society for old men'!
